I don't think so, too many addicts over bad game design such as Gacha mechanics, too many people will use the "sunk cost fallacy" as an excuse to continue to play and spend on bad games such as Genshin Impact

Exactly, because Genshin is primarily a single player character collecting game. While there will certainly be some overlap in the audience, the main target market is actually different.

From what I saw of people playing the beta, it just reminded me a lot of Tower of Fantasy. Even the story is yet another amnesia driven plot with your sidekick loli character......because that hasn't been done to death already.

That's exactly what Genshin is too, so it very well could attract many GI players.

Yes it is playable on the Phone but the Quality is of a real Console Game and the Gameplay is even Superior to many other Action Games on the Market.
There is a reason why this Game is so Famous because the Quality is AAA.
And its free so Gacha Systems are Not a real Problem... But you know that BP will have Gacha ?

genshin Gacha; character/weapons/gameplay, character give a lot of help on gameplay
BP Gacha: outfit/skin/boost, a bit of help for the boost but nothing more

the only advantage the people can have on BP is the Season pass, Boost drop/exp and chance of upgrade/craft gears

like i write before they are 2 different game, don't compare them.

Its easy Just Look at every Action JRPG and 90% have worse Gameplay and i Talk only about 3D Games.
The Quality of Gameplay and Open World Designe is HUGE in Genshin.

Worse Games that are Not mobile Trash.
Trials of Mana
Ys Games
Star Ocean
PSO1 and 2
Not real competition beside PSO1-2 but i dont want to Look for more...

Genshin is Just Not your normal Smartphone Game... it plays Like ♥♥♥♥ on Mobile.
Try it with a Gamepad on PS5 or PC... Its Just great.
I dont Play Genshin because i cant create my own Char and Tower of Fantasy is cheap ♥♥♥♥.

If you Like Gacha or Not but the Quality is very high :)

I haven't played Trials of Mana, YS VIII was pretty good, a little bit clunky tho, Genshin combat was pretty boring, only basic attacks and dodges (no combo), small amount of skill per character, and having gameplay feature locked behing gacha (characters and weapons) is absolutely disgusting and predatory game design
