You don't need VPN for the JP version
No need VPN for registering, no need VPN to download, no need VPN to play.
The gameplay is slow and mid, slower than Tera, so the latency to Japan doesn't affect gameplay at all since it is already clunky and slow.
There are a few translation methods too.
Easy to play, took me less than a minute to get the real time translation tool, the account and the game. The launcher download speed is fast too.

No point waiting for global.

Same here. I won't say it's a guarantee that you won't get banned, but hopefully BandaiNamco plays it like SEGA did with PSO2 back in the day and they don't ban the foreigner accounts. I imagine BN did it for the test for obvious reasons, but now with the game released I don't see the point in banning foreigners. Hopefully that English Patch that mixes AI will get developed more so we can get quests translated and items too so it's not such a pain in the ass to look for materials needed for crafting and such.

You are mistaken on one point, if latency does not affect the player, it is not because the game is long.
Usually, in an online game, projectiles and other abilities are coded in a way that the server calculates the hit, so latency needs to be taken into account. For example, I currently have an average latency of 350ms, which translates to a delay of 0.35 seconds.

However, this particular game has chosen to code the projectiles on the client side. It is the player's client that calculates when the target is hit, and the server only generates the damage associated with the hit.

This approach helps mitigate latency, allowing for a single mega server per publisher (rather than region-specific servers) without having to consider latency based on the region.

However, I have significant doubts about the security aspect. It would be easy to create the illusion of firing a projectile from an incorrect position (such as through a range hack).

Its not client side, I can assure you.

In the event you don't use a VPN and do get banned. Can this in anyway effect playing the global release in 2024?

Doubt, global release is a myth.
The very first 10 minutes of the game probably are getting severely censored in global lol. That explains the delay, a whole circus going on in AGS.

Why would it?

I wouldn't bet on it, this dude got banned with a dedicated VPN.

https://www.reddit.com/r/blueprotocol/comments/14b6m7x/dont_spend_money_on_the_game_spend_400_and_got/

But maybe the problem was that he actually spent money and it likely gave him away not being from Japan.

Redditors are notorious for being stupid though so this doesn't really mean much. I'll take it seriously when we see a whole swath of people showing their bans.

EDIT: and now I can be one of those who can confirm I got banned. So it seems they're looking through their records to ban foreigners because I never used chat or did anything to out myself in-game. So it seems that yes, you WILL need a VPN to play this game.

Everybody is getting banned. The anti cheat system logs info even when you are not playing the game and sends it. Even if you are using vpn you cant hide.

I hear this might be able to be bypassed with a router that has a VPN installed inside it but I don't know the technicalities of it sadly,.

Kinda sucks , Bandai is going "out of their way" to ban overseas users. Was hoping it would of been like people did for PSO2 back in the day. Making the game even less appealing. More I hear about their cheat software hiding on your PC and sending out your data, the more scary it gets what else there could be. Could be key logging you.

Going to confidently say the game is being miss managed greatly. Between them and Amazon. What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up situation.

I see people roasting the guy, but he probably just wanted the battle pass for easier leveling and cosmetics. Its an easy thing to want. Not evne I thought they would just start banning people for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ unjust reason.

Dude's being roasted because he did the equivalent of being an 18yr old who sneaks into a bar successfully, and then gets kicked out for buying a drink. The point is BandaiNamco set clear rules for us not to jump in the game and we're doing it anyways, so why would you out yourself by buying stuff? It's just stupid and you have no one to blame but yourself when you do it. Also you can't blame Bandai for banning foreigners when even their fanbase wants that (with a few that support us). To Japanese players, we're the equivalent of Brazilian players with terrible internet connection in comparison to theirs (makes sense given our distance and what F2P games attract). There's a few Japanese players that sympathize with us, but there's a big chunk that don't wait "gaijins" playing with them.

is there anyone that don't use VPN and still hasn't been banned?
Rogue 2023 年 6 月 20 日 下午 3:53
Private vpn should work as long as you have a friend in japan to host it for you. Just remember not to do an activity that leaks ip data like using the store...

Anyway, I might try the hong kong/macau/taiwan servers. Coming soon...
