Friend offered me the game, can't upgrade to deluxe

Hi, as title says, a friend of mine offered me Rematch, but now I want to upgrade it to te deluxe edition so I can play early, but it's simply not working, is it a game thing or a steam thing ?

that play early thing means you will play on the 14th instead of 19th (in my timezone at least)
