Excuse me but why tf is this game not F2P?

Ever since seeing the trailer I was sure this was gonna be a solid F2P team based rocketleaguelike game but instead it costs like 30€ and it has paid cosmetics and a battlepass already??
How fast are these devs trying to kill any hype for this game? I'm certain this game would've hit 100k-200k players on release if it was free but now with this trajectory they are taking the game is going to die off within 5 months.

Its not f2p because the devs want their game to die fast and get some quick bucks before that happens, shame really cause I and many other people are NOT going to pay 30€ for a rocket league clone with a battle pass.
