Wait... its not going to be free?

Ok i like the game and i will buy it BUT im not sure how long its going to survive with a payment up front. Every other comp team game is free and with pretty much non existent marketing, i dont really see any future for it :C
25 aint much but it will deter a lot of people from giving it a shot.

25€ isn't thaat much but you have to consider this isn't a AAA title from Activision rather an indie game by an unknown developer with little to no marketing. Just why would someone drop 25€ blindly when they can download rocket league for absolutely free?
This is just limiting the reach of the game and the large potential playerbase which WILL hurt the playerbase size in the long run.
I myself have played the beta but am debating is it even worth it to buy this game cause it could get boring in 10-20 hours especially if some kinds of issues arise.

Games dont need to be f2p especially if its a good product. also i personally would like to give my money up front rather than pay for a bp and dlc and skins every few weeks. everyone is so spoiled with free ♥♥♥♥ and tbh its not really free to begin with you end up sspending money anyway.

I am absolutely happy that it isn't going to be free. Less people will be making a second/third accounts to play against lower comp. If you want to use Rocket league as a reference, see how many people are complaining about so many smurf account. It kills the enjoyment and hurts new people from playing because some people cant win in their own divisions. They will probably take a page from Rocket League and make it f2p after a year or two when the player base drops to bring people back.

Perhaps it will not die so quickly precisely because it is not free. It depends on what budget they have and what server costs they have, depending on that they can make a sale every month, so it may be that for indies this way is better than free2play - because of the sales and new players with the sale.

Any live service game that is not F2P are fated to fail. First, the game needs a lot of marketing to get people hyped up to buy it and have enough players to live a few months, which is not the case here. Second, live service games always have BPs and skins to buy, otherwise they can't fund the development for too long. Third, a good % of players drop the game within 1 to 2 weeks, this combined with the game being a live service and a paid game is not great. I liked the game but I'm not going to drop money in a game that will live just a few months at best, good luck for the people who will, I hope the game lasts for a while.
