It was pretty much the same game (it actually had even more content than RL), and it didnt matter... the 2nt one just got lucky and had good press.
THIS !! i love paying for games and i love buying games but i'm 200% not going to purchase a multiplayer only game that doesn't look like it will blow up enough to have enough players for years to come. never... its sad because this game looks awesome. they should have done a f2p base edition of the game and then premium b2p editions (in that case i would have bought the most expensive one)
Now for smaller titles use the same logic but decrease the pricing. In this case it's a $30USD ask. That's not a problem. However, if this is a seasonal battlepass, ultra drip fed, 2K/Visions inspired game model, then yeah there is no reason to be charging a base price for a game that is about making millions or billions in "engagement" baited content.
I have no idea how slo clap is going about this but sifu was an absolute gem and an amazing value and complete product. I hope they have success with this, despite my own personal bias that craves a sifu like sequel or game of that type.
Edit: sadly I just saw the different priced editions and read the seasonal and cosmetic content portions of the game. Well, that does make this a different type of project imo. But I'll reserve judgment. I will say that it seems like many studios are all trying to go this online route with a lot of secondary gain motives of using it as a data pile to train ai and to also use to have a bigger data pile to sell to third parties. I really hope this won't be one of those projects.
