Sifu
How hard is this game? How important is parry?
I managed to beat Nioh series, and Elden Ring/Dark Souls with cheese and help.

I don't even remember if I managed to beat Sekiro's first boss and I refunded it.

So, I want a bit of flexibility both in ways to overcome challenge and to cheese stuff/get help, otherwise I just won't be able to complete the game.

So I'd like to know how this game compares to the above. If it has Sekiro kind of difficulty I'll have to skip it, if it's like Nioh, I can give it a shot.

The game has three difficulty modes (with the easiest one being very not demanding), so I'm sure you'll be able to complete the game at that, even if you don't pickup on all of the mechanics. No progression or achievements are locked behind difficulty, you're free to play as you wish.

On the default difficulty level, parrying (deflecting) is indeed beneficial, but not outright mandatory. It's as simple as pressing a button before you're hit. Failing that, you can just hold a button to block attacks (not too beneficial, but better than getting hit). Alongside deflects/parries, the game also has avoiding (two directions, high and low), a mechanic with a far more forgiving timing, and the one you should probably stick to the most. It's performed by holding the block button and doing a directional input. This is what allows you to punish whiffed enemy attacks most of the time.

And yeah, cheese is plentiful, though it varies encounter by encounter.

I would have put the basic challenge level of sekiro and nioh about the same, and this game in a similar place too.

It doesn't really have anything in the way of help mechanics or being able to grind up your power level as a soft difficulty mechanic like souls games do. It even limits the amount you can credit feed, albeit pretty generously, so you might find it frustrating.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Oh cool, I don't mind playing in easiest difficulty. Thanks.

Not very difficult.

I just got the game and went through the first level with 5 deaths, all from armed ennemies because they actually deal damage if they hit you.

Thing is if you understand that the game gives you tools to not fight fair, it becomes a lot easier. Once I understood I could instakill most mobs if there's a ledge to push them toward, steal their weapons or generally how busted crowd control is, even tough encounters become very managable. It seems tactics are far more important than simply learning parry/dodge timings, but I'll see if this stays true in later parts.

sekiro is not difficult
it's litterally the easiest game to do no damage because it's not level base but skill base.
and sifu is way harder

Maybe, it was more about me not finding any reason to keep playing and dying than it being difficult. I didn't even want to learn, with no xp and no loot, everything I did before the boss was just pointless and time-consuming.

OP, don't mind Sophia, they're a long-standing gatekeeper and troll.
better be gatekeeper of competitive play than guy like dsp or lowtiergod being bad in every video game he plays.

so thank you for complement so nice for you to notice.
Yea I agree just helps showcase that this game is not for everyone.

Noone can help you get better at games like this and all you got to do is play over and over till you learn.Otherwise the only other option is to play on the lowest difficulty, but then that takes away partially the vision of the devs.

It's a singleplayer PvE game.

Were it not their vision, they wouldn't have added it into the game.
medium difficulty -100% difficulty of battles
for souls clone nerds

low difficulty - 40% difficulty of battles
there is no need to learn timings and resuscitation
