The core combat slightly reminds me of Batman Arkham series. Which worked great with a keyboard and mouse.

Yes, I'd argue it's even better than controller for some of the special attacks.

You'll just have to get used to the targeting system the game has (it's a bit...)

Once you get used to the camera, positioning and how the game works, it won't matter what you use. Although there's a chance you get a sore thumb from pressing space all the time (that's for dodging and parrying).

Absolutely. I was sceptical myself in the beginning, but it actually works quite well!

ps. I have over 20 year history in fighting games, although I never used controllers, only joysticks. Sifu I play with keyboard and mouse.

Yes, it's really good. Got 100% achievements, no conrol problems whatsoever.

To be honest I feel like dodging works better on MKB than on controller, also considering the default layout and well for this game I wouldn't say you need linear trigger, which makes actions a bit faster.
Both have their pros and cons.
