Sifu
How would you rank the bosses in terms of difficulty for you?
For me (in terms of master difficulty, age 20 run)

1. Yang
2. Kuroki (Phase 1)
3. Kuroki (Phase 2)
4. Fajar
5. Sean
6. Jinfeng

Jinfeng is just too easy... I don't know what they were smoking making her but despite being the final boss before Yang, she has by far the slowest moves in the game which does make sense because she is a long ranged fighter but they are so easy to read and parry. I wish they did more with her, she is lacking combo's imo

Sean wasn't terrible for me, once I trained a bit learning his moveset he wasn't that bad but he did kill me quite a bit when I first fought him. He only has like 1 low attack and it usually at the beginning of the combo, the rest can he parried or dodged

Fajar is a good beginner boss but he doesn't do anything crazy and teaches you early not to attack spam. His 1st phase wasn't too bad for me but I kept slipping up on his 2nd phase, it is hard to predict if he is gonna go for a heavy roundhouse kick, a fast kick or a low kick after his 2 knife combo

Kuroki 2nd Phase slipped me up since I never did get the hang of her knife combo into heavy leg thrust but her moveset isn't that bad otherwise, her knife throw can be grabbed and thrown back (she loves spamming that move) but once you get used to it since she leaves herself open quite a lot

Kuroki 1st Phase is evil, I got used to learning the punish windows of her attacks but she swings that thing really fast. I can reliably block/parry most attacks of her's without taking too much damage now but she was a big learning curve

Yang is no joke when it comes to kung fu, he has some nasty combo's, cannot be focused and has very little openings. I found the best way to deal with him is to bait his leg kick from a distance, dodge it and get a few hits in. Yang also attacks quite a lot which is a double edged sword, if you can parry his long combo's he takes a lot of structure damage which makes the fight shorter. Certainly the hardest fight in the game, the vibration from my controller when he hit me helped me learn the timing and length on his combo's which helped quite a lot since they are crazy fast

This seems to be for Disciple difficulty — in which case I generally agree with your ranking. I'd move Kuroki P2 a bit down, though, since her approach can actually be interrupted with any attack, even the standard ones. This can restrict her movement to just kunai throws or teleports, otherwise she can just get combo'd if she tries to approach.

On Master difficulty, though (which I'm more familiar with), I'd roughly rank it like this:
1. Fajar
2. Yang
3. Sean
4. Kuroki P1
5. Kuroki P2
6. Jinfeng

I never played any difficulty besides Master, I figured that I'd learn eventually and I did but dang did I get my ass kicked in the beginning LOL

Fajar was a massive roadblock for me as well since he is a lot different than the common enemies and you couldn't just wail on him like everyone else

I've gotten back to Sifu after a few months to get the Wude ending and the Master difficulty done in one go and Fajar is such a pain in the ass

I can go through the whole level without a death and when I get to Fajar, I keep being folded like laundry over and over

Honestly wasn't expecting the first boss to chew and spit me out like that, tho I feel like I'm slowly getting the hang of it again

My biggest struggle is dodging his sweep and mid kick, due to how fast they are and that they usually appear after the same combo, making it hard to predict

There is a theory (not without merit) that he was intentionally made this way to dissuade newer players from playing on Master and encourage them to switch back to Disciple, and/or to show experienced players that the new difficulty (as it was added in an update) is no joke. Either that, or Sloclap just severely overcorrected.

Obligatory "avoid, not dodge" — those two are separate mechanics.

Anyway, the way I approach both of his phases is that I mostly Deflect his attacks instead of Avoiding them. His attacks are fast enough that choosing between a single-input and a two-input defense is crucial. Besides, anything that isn't a roundhouse/spin kick can't be punished anyway. So:
  • Go to the training mode, spend a lot of time practicing his deflect timings (deflect the sweep), and learn to recognise the animations for the kicks. It is hard, but it is possible.
  • Bring a metal pipe/bat/stick with you, it'll help with breaking his structure and with maintaining your own. Also, Face Smash is a stupid powerful Focus move.
  • If you've got those skills, you can use Reverse Duck Strike or Hook Intercept (reverse and not) to armor through his attacks.
  • When you sense a mixup approaching, hold the Focus button — that will slow down the time and allow you to read his animation. Release the Focus button, and avoid accordingly.

I got the game at release and I just beat Yang for the first time two hours ago.

But I honestly think the order you fight them in the game is roughly qual to their order of difficulty.

However imo the fight against Sean was a little easier than the first boss - mainly because it takes about two full levels for you to get some of your trickier nonsense. (I used the focus sweep attack followed by ground punches to beat Sean)
