yeah its hard but thats the point
You have 1 decade per medaillon, so you can reach up to 70 where you will have your final life.

I struggled when I started the game, but I started a new run and cleared the 2 first area with minimal death. Take the time to learn the game and you can always restart a level if you been having a bad streak.
The maximum age you can reach is 75, after that it's game over.

It's a challenging game when one just starts playing, but eventually it becomes really easy once you get the hang of it and feel the flow of combat.

Don't be afraid of failure, it's the greatest teacher in Sifu ^^

Not *quite*. Defeating powerful foes, or reaching combo multipliers (I'm not sure which) can make your death count can go down by one. So if you are at age 24 and *then* began dying repeatedly, you can get to age 69 (24 +1+2+3+4+5... etc.) and then your next death will put you to 78 and that would be your final life.

As you go along, you'll be able to spend experience points to unlock moves - and doing those enough times unlocks them permanently for subsequent runs. Additionally, anything that is on the noticeboard (such as keycards) is kept in future runs - so when you get the key to use the elevator in the 3rd stage, for example, you can use it to skip large chunks of the level.

So even if you do run out of lives, you're not going entirely from scratch. In addition to the things you have unlocked, your own ability with the game will have improved too.

Additionally, when you skip to a specific level, it will allow you to start at the lowest age you were when you reached that level. So if you died a few times in the first level and completed it at age 26, then anytime you start the second level you'll be at age 26. If you go back later on and complete the first level with only one death, anytime you start the second level you'll be at age 21 instead.
I don't think it's worth trying to perfectly do every level - there are some things you'll get in later stages to make the earlier levels easier, and there's a locked door in the first area which has its key in the fifth one.

So yeah, it's okay if you're going into the next level at age 30 - for a while my best was age 35, until I got to learn a bit more about how to play the game. You can always come back to it and improve later on when you've got more skills unlocked. :-)

I couldn't agree more - seeing that happen in my own playthrough has been phenomenal. ^_^

One of the videos that introduced me to this game was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3PRtU9I-UQ , and I think that it might be useful for OP as well.
just play easy mode and move onto higher difficulties from there. You have to master the gameplay. also you can always use the shrine to decrease age by 5 years i think up to 15 or 20 years.

that is really helpful thanks a lot i really thought that i may not be able to finish the game or has needed to make a nearly flawless run just to finish it i played games that are difficult and died a lot ( fromsoft games mostly ) but there you learn each death and you don't lose that much progress when you die i see now this game is also offering a way to advance even if you not perfected it to a gamer god level.
