How the hell is yang beatable at 20?

Title, I've been fighting him for upwards of 10 hours now. I redid the entire game to spend 0 points on focus, doing everything up to him at 20 years old, but I just can't get him. I can reliably get him to phase 2, but at some point, he does that charged punch stance and does a grab I have no idea how to avoid that *always* kills me. I'm trying to do it at 20, and it might be the hardest thing I've ever tried to do in a videogame.

6 more runs getting him to halfway down phase 2, but that grab absolutely will not stop killing me.

When he goes into the stance for the charge punch that stuns you and opens you up for the grab, you specifically have to just hang back and let him come out of it. A lot of Yang's tool set is built around understanding your own toolset, and that move in particular is one you can do that is telegraphed pretty obviously. Trying to attack him when he gets like that will get you killed. It's a good lesson that sometimes the best way to fight is to just wait for your opponent to come to you so you can parry and counter them in return.

I just completed the challenge to beat him without damaging him and I only died once, so I thoroughly believe you can do it with damage. Had full points in structure amount, structure regen and parry damage, also brought in the last guy's staff, which I read makes you lose less structure, though I can't confirm if that's true.

I fought him a bunch of times and managed to beat him once at 20, it's not an easy challenge by any means, the game tests you in everything you learned up to that point. All his patterns can be learned how to deal with, it will just take time and practice. If you want to you can look up on Youtube a hitless run and follow those moves although very samey they do manage to do it no damage, it is 100% possible.
After all final bosses are supposed to be hard, aren't they?

hmm. seems like he goes into that stance and *then* travels to get to you to do it, no?

yeah the staff is an enormous help, and triangle x3 *always* prompts a double hit from him after he dodges the 3rd hit so pretty easy to loop him. first phase is pretty easy from that.

that's a good idea, i'll look that up. hard yeah, this hard - no, but i also recognise that i'm doing it in a way that really *really* makes it harder for myself lol.

No worries it happens, I got pissed at this game plenty of times and Alted+F4 haha, but I love it so much. Also doesn't help that I chose Master difficulty from the start, but that's me because I like the challenge and think I can do it, and I did.
Currently I'm working on getting 3 stamps on all the arenas, slowly but steadily.

Don't try to play the game the way devs intend you to play, break the game.
Then it goes from challenging to piss easy.

Well, I got him at age 21, I gave up on 20 lol. Happy with it.
