2/ Reverie introduce some characters you will see in the next games of Calvard Arc (Picnic squad), so you will need to play Reverie one day or another.
2.5/ Some Daydream of Reverie introduce the past of some Daybreak protagonists / introduce the rival / senpai / fellow practitioner of Rean (no spoiler) / set a deal with Ouroboros.
It's kind of a prologue or an introduction to the next games.
--> you can see it on youtube like everyone, I concede it (so it's a 2.5 not 3 XD)
3/ Why ppl can't finish a game of a serie and need to jump straight to the newly release chapter ?
LIke, i have 9 books, i read from 1 to 8 then 9 and a half. Ten is out right now so i feel the urge to skip the rest of 9 ? Non sense... Finish 9, buy 10 then wait for 11 ?
Calvard will not fly away. It will still be here in 6 month or next year. Worst scenario, you will wait for Daybreak 2 or 3 to be translated like everyone and go back to Reverie, so why not finsih Reverie then play Daybreak. Then Daybreak 2 will be out when you had finished them.
The events of this game are referenced to in Daybreak multiple times. Also, you will miss a lot of worldbuilding, and several arcs for characters from older games continue in Reverie and are further developed in Daybreak. Some Daybreak characters even start off in Reverie.
Still, you shouldn't play a game that you really don't want to play, no matter how important it is for the continuity. Ultimately, playing games is about having fun, not about doing it 'right', so make the choice that makes you happy and don't worry too much about what others say. ;-)
