REVIEW thread
Just a place to collect some of the official reviews for Daybreak:

RGP SITE : 7/10
IGN: 8/10
THE SIXTH AXIS: 9/10
PUSH SQUARE: 8/10
SILICONERA: 10/10
SPAZIO GAMES: 7.5/10
RPGamer: 4.5/5
NINTENDO LIFE: 8/10
NOISY PIXEL: 8.5/10
TWINFINITE: 5/5
GAMING BOLT: 8/10
HARCDORE GAMER: 8.5/10

Pretty good overall.
Stuff that was mainly praised, the new settings, the new characters, the new engine, the pacing, great starting point for new players. The translation was also explicitly praised by many reviewers as of much better quality then in older titles. ( make of that what you will).

Stuff that was criticized, the new "action combat" mode seems undercooked, the LGC alignment system is largely superfluous and the main antagonists of the story are rather uninteresting and dont get much background.

Can agree with all of that, its a strong entry in the series, personally i gave it a 8.5/10.

People always go complain about nisa. Any creative liberty they take is bad in there eyes. But it's honesty not that bad. Most people I see complain about it base there knowledge on a fantranslation or Google translate neither of which are exactly good sources.

while the fan translation isnt completely accurate its closer than the nisa localization

they did many unnecessary changes for no reason. id recommend the fan translation instead of the nisa one.

After playing the NISA PS5 demo and 25 hours of the fan translation on here, I have to say I prefer the official NISA translation.

Not to discredit those who did the fan translation, as it’s amazing and allowed me to play it earlier so my hat goes off to them, but I feel the NISA localisation is actually very good.

Also after watching others streaming bits I had already played with the fan translation, I can see the characterisation flows better on the official and would have rather played that if I wasn’t impatient.

Either way it’s great they have allowed us the option of either to suit your preference.

NISA has made some TERRIBLE translations in the past. I remember YS VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana had a horrible translation where NIS even had to apologize and rework it after the fact. This said they have gotten ALOT better since then and have learned from the backlash and are now in my opinion pretty good. There are some lines here and there where you could see them changing things from the japanese text. But that's just standard in most Localization work.

Maybe we should focus on reviews here again as intended

Yeah - Those translation "wahwahwah" dummy's are terribly annoying. They cherry-pick a few (not even wrong, but in their eyes bad) words or sentences that have to be "corrected", all from a pool of thousand upon thousands lines of text, and think they are the "masters of translation" somehow. Nuff said...

Anyway - Back to the real topic. Those high scores are encouraging. Not that I doubted the game would be good after seeing some previews, but it's nice to see this all confirmed.

I really looking forward to this game (disclaimer: I buy and have bought all Falcom games on GOG, so no mouse icon here).

No need to justify yourself. Many bought the game on other platforms, on console or played the CLE release on Steam that came out many months before this one.
I wont buy the game twice, i was satisfied with the CLE + fanpatch version. Also i dont care about the English dub.
