Want to play a blind run…but questions about missables, All achievements, minimal to no spoilers.
So far I am loving this game. I am considering going for all achievements but I’m undecided.

I know it’s a minimum or 2 playthroughs, and saves to have all branch pathways.

Is it okay to just play the game blind first run?
I know I won’t be getting AAA rank and lose SP if I pick the wrong choices…but wasn’t sure if I should save that for a second playthrough?

Are all quests visible? Do some timed events have a short window and require back tracking or easy to miss?

Does the chests visible shard allow me to actually find all the chests on the map to get the achievement without me needing a guide?

The LGC choices…I heard it’s very difficult to get C max. I also heard you need to have 1 maxed out to get a special enemy for rare material at the end. So if I played blind, and chose what I would and don’t max any LGC first playthrough, are the rare materials from the monsters important? Especially considering this game requires a Nightmare difficulty, wouldn’t a weapon help streamline the second playthrough? I don’t know if I should max 1 first or just decide myself whatever happens.

My other things I’m trying to figure out are

Curious shop…Is it stuff I actually missed or does he have standard stock too? And does it change or lose what’s shown if I don’t get it?

I always try to buy all food, recipes, and books. Not sure if I should be buying most accessories?

Does the item drop% stack? Is it worth using?

Are there any areas where I lose access to bestiary entries or drops that are rare? I have a feeling boss reinforcements might be missable too.

I’m pretty sure the connect system will be complex too Nd the reason I might fail…I haven’t had a chance to really see what to do to make sure it’s possible to get all in 2 playthroughs as I don’t want to spoil it lol.

I’m torn as I want to play blind to avoid spoilers, and just have fun, but at the same time, I have that FOMO and don’t want to replay it over and over or miss out.

Anyway if anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated. Curious how long it would take as well. I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it as the game itself is long, but just estimating the difficulty.

I hate being a perfectionist with FOMO lol. When I am loving a game though, I do want to do everything.

Thanks in advance

Okay, I can't answer all of these questions, but a couple things I can say is that the achievement isn't for all treasure chests, but opening 150 of them. I got this without even trying or knowing it existed, and the global ranks show that 45% of players also did, so I think that one you don't have to worry about at all.

LGR—I maxed L & G, and I was literally one or two bumps away from maxing C. I got some extra points in the others along the way (especially G, because that's what I was originally gunning for), so for being completely blind that tells me it is likely possible to max them in 1 run if you have it all plotted out.

Also just in general, I got 80% of achievements while being blind, despite not caring about them or even being able to read what they were. So yeah I would say with a pretty big degree of confidence that you can just have fun on your first run, and use the second one to clean up.

That’s awesome. Thanks for this post. I’m trying not to worry about achievements but the game rewards you for in game ones and being a perfectionist and completionist is a problem for me.

I am enjoying just deciding myself…I seem to prefer the grey choices atm lol. I was going to focus on Chaos and Law but if it all transfers to a second playthrough I’ll just not worry so much :).

You can not max the moral alignment in one playthrough.
At max you end barely at 4/4/4 but especially CHAOS has not enough points to go to level 5 ,even if you choose every CHAOS option there is.
There is also a secret boss for each alignment that only appears if you get it to 5 before the last chapter.

There are also some connect stories with characters you wont get in one playthrough.
Technically you CAN get them all but then you miss out on two other activity achievements because you wont have the points to get those activities completed.

Also there is a route split in chapter 4, where you can ally with one of 4 factions for the chapter and its dependent on your alignment who is available. You need everything at 3 to have all options open.
And you still need to replay the entire chapter 4 times for all achievements because the achievement for the faction you allied with only triggers at the end of the chapter.

I did everything that seemed reasonable in a first playthrough and ended with 43/53 achievements, or 81%.

Yeah, you're right. I booted the game back up to check and I had 3/4/4. At the time I just thought that 4 was the max because, while there is technically space after the 4th mark, it seemed like it could be just a graphical design element rather than the scale itself continuing.
All good intel for us new players. Keep it coming. Thanks all.

For the rest of the questions:

I know I won’t be getting AAA rank and lose SP if I pick the wrong choices…but wasn’t sure if I should save that for a second playthrough?
You can easily max out your Spriggan rank by the end of the game as long as you do all available side quests. There is like a 20-30 point overflow if you get all the questions and such right during quests but even without that you can reach max rank if you do everything.

Are all quests visible? Do some timed events have a short window and require back tracking or easy to miss?
All quests are marked on the area map and the transition map between areas.
RED means story quest, Green means a Spriggan contract and Blue means small extra events that expand on characters or story but are not mandatory and dont give any points.
If something will advance the story and lock you out of side quests the game will display a warning.

Does the chests visible shard allow me to actually find all the chests on the map to get the achievement without me needing a guide?
Yes you have the chest quartz from the start on Agnes and there is just one section in a chapter where you dont have her with you so just remember to equip it on another chara for that time.

The LGC choices…I heard it’s very difficult to get C max. I also heard you need to have 1 maxed out to get a special enemy for rare material at the end. So if I played blind, and chose what I would and don’t max any LGC first playthrough, are the rare materials from the monsters important? Honeslty just go with your gut but try to level them evenly. Like already mentioned there is a point in chapter 4 where you get different routes depending on your LGC rank and you need to have all on 3 at that point to get all the options. Generally i recommend going for CHAOS options if you get them since there are very few quests with them and its the hardest alignment to level. LAW is easiest.

Curious shop…Is it stuff I actually missed or does he have standard stock too? And does it change or lose what’s shown if I don’t get it?
Only the important stuff you missed in a previous chapter.

I always try to buy all food, recipes, and books. Not sure if I should be buying most accessories?
You only need to buy 1 of each food item and use it to get the gourmet points for it, it will have a symbol next to it if you already eaten it. Same for the menus you can cook yourself, you only need enough items to cook each once and then eat it to count. Its pretty easy to max out the food counter by the end of the game, way more food items then needed in the game. As for books, there is only the Calvard Times you should buy each chapter at the kiosk in front of your office so you get them all, thats all the books in the game. No novels or anything like that to collect, so very easy to get the achievement.
As for anything else, just try to find all hollow cores and buy all new art drivers when available , those are linked to achievements.
Honestly the most time consuming achievement is the " unlock all orbment slots for all characters" which will only be finishable late in the last chapter because those slots are expensive. The higher ones are like 700 quartz from EACH element to unlock and that for 8 characters.

Does the item drop% stack? Is it worth using?
No clue, never bothered with it.

Are there any areas where I lose access to bestiary entries or drops that are rare? I have a feeling boss reinforcements might be missable too.
There is no bestiary achievement and no need to scan anything so it really does not matter.

I’m pretty sure the connect system will be complex too Nd the reason I might fail…I haven’t had a chance to really see what to do to make sure it’s possible to get all in 2 playthroughs as I don’t want to spoil it lol.
If you do all side quests in a chapter you get extra connect points + different phases like morning and evening and such. You can see every connect event there is if you want in a single playthrough. There are only 2 NPC whose connect level does not go to max with just those events but who you need to invite to some extra events. Basically you have to invite both to the same movie but that will prevent you from getting the " watched all movies " achievement since you can only watch one in each free time and you have to watch a different one each time to reach that achievement. So better be done in 2 playthrougs.

Anyway if anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated. Curious how long it would take as well. I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it as the game itself is long, but just estimating the difficulty.
Difficulty is generally on the lower side for a Trails game, never had any problems or came even close to dying on NORMAL difficutly.
As for the length, its a pretty long game, 5 chapters + 1 interlude + one "final" chapter.
Took me around 75 hours and i am a very fast reader. In comparsion i finished Cold Steel 4 in about 60 hours and Reverie in 45.

AAA Rank requires 350 points and you can obtain a total of 377, so there's some leeway in that regard. Even if you don't reach it, I'm pretty sure you can carry over your Office Rank progress in NG+.

Both the sidequests and main story quests are visible in the minimap and their red/green icon is marked when selecting a location to fast travel to. You can also select a sidequest in the 'To Do' List tab and press the Y button to set up a "navi help" so whatever you have to do next displays on-screen, on the right side below the red marker for main story quests.

The game also warns you when the story will progress and optional content would become unavailable.

Yes, as long as you have a Mirage Quartz equipped in your EXTRA Line you can see all the treasure chests available in the area. From what I recall there shouldn't be any missable chests, but something that comes to mind are two specific dungeons (the first in Chapter 2 and then in Chapter 3) where not all chests are available during your first visit.

In any case, you need 150 out of 224 chests for the Steam Achievement so don't worry too much about it. If you manage to open all of them you'll get an unique Quartz, though.

If you want to max Chaos, you basically have to choose every Chaos option but one so you end with 77 out of the 75 points necessary. And while it can be done blind, especially since the English translation patch color-codes the options, it's not exactly the friendliest option for a first playthrough.
What I'd recommend, if possible, is to try to get the Alignment to 3/3/3 for Chapter 5 so you have access to all routes. Alternatively, a more common distribution of 3(+)/3(+)/2 will grant you access to 3 out of the 4 routes.

Next, the rare material you would get (Jet Black Steel) is required to forge the ultimate weapon for every party member BUT it's not the only way to obtain it: during the Final Chapter you can trade all 12 movie pamphlets to a certain NPC for one material.
You just need to create one ultimate weapon for a standalone Achievement (and then two more for the Platinum/100% Achievement but it can easily be achieved during NG+).

But honestly, if you're planning to do a second playthrough anyways, just select whatever options you prefer for this one!

I've never seen Curios shops have any other item in stock other than whatever they have by default, to be honest. However, if you missed any movie pamphlet, the Curios shop in Old Town will sell them during the Final Chapter.

Originally posted by Joerpg84:

All towns except for Edith are a one-time-only visit, so I'd recommend buying at least one of each food item and new recipes.
For accessories it's a bit more tricky because it depends if they can eventually be exchanged for something better or if they're useful as a standalone copy. In my opinion, they're all worth the money except for the Cat/Moshy/Mooshy/Bunny Strap line.

Originally posted by Joerpg84:

They should stack but I don't know if it would be additive or multiplicative. Still, it's good to have a Coin equipped for the item drop rate boost, especially early game since you won't have that many accessories to equip. It's also a good idea to buy one of each Coin accessory since you can eventually trade them for a Platinum Coin (Item drop rate +100% and other small stat boosts).

Boss reinforcements are usually monsters from the same area so they shouldn't be missable. There's one exception that I can think of but it's listed as an EX Enemy, which means it doesn't count towards the achievements.

There's an option to carry over your Connect Stages for your next playthrough so you can just focus on the events of the characters that aren't at max level yet. Between movies, gifts and the events themselves you can get the Stages for most characters pretty high or outright maxed.

However and Ogami has said, there are 2 NPCs that require you to watch their Connect Events and select the same movie (This Side of Heaven) twice to reach max Connect Level, so you won't be able to watch all 12 during the same playthrough. There's a third NPC that requires both Events and a movie to reach max level but there's no guaranteed overlap like in the previous case.

Just to give you an estimate, my first playthrough was on Hard mode and I did all I could, talked to all the NPCs and such, and it took me 111 hours to beat it. I'm currently doing a second NG playthrough, this time in Nightmare and at the Interlude right now, and so far it clocks at 66 hours (2 hours less than in my previous one) while once again, taking my time even if I know what to do. I'd say not to worry about the length and just play at your own pace.

I hope this helps and that you enjoy the game!

Thank you so much for your informative replies. So helpful.

I’m not so fast with reading anymore after brain fog. I do play high speed but it’s a fun game so not complaining that it’s long.

I’m very curious about the Curios shop as when I first visited he had a 8000 Mira life drop, monster meat and monster extract so did I somehow miss those in the prologue and chapter 1 xD. I thought I got all chests in dungeons but don’t trust my brain fog. Unless that’s his “default” stock

It’s so good to have forums and helpful fellow JRPG gamers posting on here to help gather info without spoiling. Really appreciate everyone’s advice on here :D.

Edit: I am using my Steam mobile app so apologise I didn’t get a chance to reply properly to everyone’s posts individually. It’s hard to quote and reply without a PC. Playing on my ROG Ally too.

I have a decent gaming PC but there is something about playing on the ROG while laying lazily on the couch or in bed that is just more appealing for games like this.

I have always been a console gamer, but since the ROG Ally, I have been playing most games on Steam preferably now.

It’s one of the best things I bought since I’m finally playing my endless Steam backlog.

I 100% agree. It’s so cozy being able to play on the couch or in bed portable. I repurchased other trails games so I can play portable rather than get up to play on my PS5.
