gamecube port or dreamcast port (slightly derailed.)
is this a port of the dreamcast game or the gamecube game cause they ruined the Chao worlds on the gamecube one.
they took out all the extra areas and scenery that made them fun to visit.
so should I just go buy a dreamcast if I want to play this game or was it more then worth the 75% off? :D

Why would the GameCube version not have everything from the DreamCast version?
Endalrin 2013 年 7 月 21 日 下午 8:40
because they want to save data? I dont know but it pissed me off when i got my copy for the gamecube.:serioussam:

Dude that's not weird at all. Most of the people I know do the same. I actually prefer the story mode and I still find myself getting caught up for hours messin' with my chaos trying to build them up and race them and whatnot. I think that might be the secret to making an addictive game - great mini-games.

lol i think i'd rather do it on dreamcast just for using the memory card as a mini gameboy which, coolest memory card ever? definetly.

also is it weird that I play that game for the chaos and NOT the sonic story?

I think a DreamCast disc can hold roughly a gigabyte of data and a GameCube disc (despite being physically smaller) can hold roughly a gigabyte and a half (about 15,000 megabytes) so theoretically you could make a game on GameCube that takes roughly one-and-a-half-times the data of a game you could put on DreamCast if both versions use the same number of discs. Why would any data need to be trimmed for the GameCube port? Do the extras really take more than 500 megabytes of memory?

:steamwings: Storage difference is a measily 300 MB, Gamecube storing 1.5GB with DreamCast storing 1.2GB (GD-ROM).

The Dreamcast and GameCube both have different hardware; this means its possible that one console supported different graphic types better. That also might have something to do with both performance of the console and why both versions were vastly different in the first place. And with the GameCube version likely selling more copies from the Dreamcast dying out (even though the Dreamcast was better and cooler) it might have been more of a corporate decision to use more of the GameCube version.

It should also be noted that the GameCube version had more Chao Garden mechanics that could have taken up some of that extra space that the Dreamcast didn't have.

Owned both. Strongly prefered DreamCast even though I had far less games for it and it had horrible disk reading. Controller was just awesome :fhappy:. No one has tried the whole memory card with a screen thing since.

GameCube had its moments. Super Smash Bros Melee being one of them.

I don't see why not.

I'm also strongly biased as I fell in love with Grandia II on the Dreamcast. All of its ports were garbage.

no, the contoller was poorly designed but on the right step. I find the xbox 360 controller to be nigh perfect, and it's based off dreamcast. the playstation controller is decent all around, and it's based off of the SNES controller, one of the greatest systems.
but the dremacast controller was shaped weird and for some reason the wire came out the front instead of the back. :s but the wierdest controller ever is probably the N64.:loot:

They turned the Dreamcast controller INTO A BOAT (see Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed). :steamwings:

Your argument is hereby invalidated. Partially.

The Dreamcast (Sept 1999) was released both before the PS2 (Oct 2000) and the Xbox (Nov 2001). You couldn't even really compare the Dreamcast controller to any other controller other than perhaps the PS1 within its first year of being released.

Xbox controller resembles the PS2 controller far more than it does the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast controller didn't have a select button or a second analog stick.

omg I know you arent about to start this arguement about the dreamcast controller. DUDE
DOUBLE MEMORY CARD SLOTS? THE COLORED BUTTONS?!

:p2blue:not to mention microsoft paid sega to help design their system:p2orange:

dont make me pull out the interwebs of knowledge.:serioussam:

wait, what?! and i has that game. i must seeeee this!

Personally, I think the DreamCast controller looks the most like an Xbox S controller, but with fewer buttons, only one analog stick, a lighter shade, and a more bladed handle design. Was the DreamCast controller perfect? Hell no! It had a horrible d-pad (even worse than Xbox 360's), too few buttons (no select button for taunting or extra buttons for shortcuts to otherwise awkward button combinations in fighting games), but for its time, it was pretty ingenious with the almost-comfortable handles an memory cards with screens that you could see (well, the top one, anyway) even when inserted into the controller. SEGA had some great ideas even in the hardware department, they were just piss-poor in managing them.

ya it was a step in the right direction. :) :D:
