Dreamcast or Gamecube?
Quick question for those who've bought the game. Is this the Dreamcast or Gamecube version of SA2? I already have the GC version, so I don't really want to risk getting a second version of a game I already have.

I hope it's DC, I really want that particular set of Chao Gardens...

I also think it's both. As for the chao gardens, I am not sure if there is a difference. I am only used to the gamecube ones. If you are looking for a specific chao, you can use the chao editor though.

The Battle Mode DLC upgrades the game to GC version but without it the game is exactly like the DC version

The Dreamcast gardens are larger than the GC ones.

But good to know! Thank-you.

Very interesting. I'll check it out, sometimes.

on dreamcast my reincarnated chao was deleted when i took him to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chao doctor
I think it's the gamecube by the standards of being able to use the camera freely, yet neither by the fact that there is no (at least not to my knowledge) tiny chao garden. I believe it is both by means of textures, since I do not believe SA2B changed any textures from the Dreamcast version like with SADX. I could be wrong on the last one. SA2B had many chao garden glitches. Some of the old school chao garden tricks were not fixed since the DC release. I don't think that the pillar in the Hero Garden was glitched in the DC version, but I know it is in the GC version. The extra life and ring capsules are different for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 versions of SA2 which makes them all look boot-legged.
Dreamcast is more or less the same thing so I wouldnt really bother with the Dreamcast unless you want better lighting, larger chao gardens, and barely any multiplayer

It's a mix of the Dreamcast and Gamecube. This Steam version is mostly the gamecube version as it has the better models yet has worse lighting than the Dreamcast.
Another thing I found is that the steam version has the dreamcast Big appearances in the stages. The appearances in the stages were not in the GC version, but the cutscene appearances were in both.

But PC is probably the best for both SA1 and SA2, but with mods. You get the benefits of both versions and can keep whatever parts you want

We dont have to shove mods down a beginner's throat.
