If you don't mind much less handholding than modern games normally have. Absolutely.
If you enjoyed it on the gamecube, you'll enjoy it on Stream. Plus short loading screens and better rendering.

Yeah, I mean it's a sonic game, it's inevitable that people play it.:D:

You mean autists.

The game is totally worth it, if you are looking to play a sublime action platformer of the old.

12 years ? :D
Spoiler Alert: you're gonna HATE the Treasure hunting stages, but the other stages are fun!
I Honestly Only Hated 1 Stage of the game, Rouge's 2nd level with 2 roaming invincible Robots, But they aren't stopping the level from completion, they just add challenge/a twist to that level ( Players who have beaten the game/dark mode know what i'm referring to ),

The Rest of it was Part of the greatest Sonic game of its time, If you compare ANY Sonic Game to the Other games of their time ( Sonic Colors to, for example, AC3, Bioshock Series, etc based on Graphics, Re-Play-Value, Level Design, and SoundTrack, You Will Notice Sonic Adventure 2 Stood Out MUCH Further ahead than any game from its time, compared to, Say, Sonic Colors and its Competition

I mean, Have You seen any Dreamcast games, or Games from its release time that even made it to Steam and/or still aren't completely in the dust? ( I know SA2 isn't popular anymore, but at least the Sega Community ( those who've been around ) Still have good memories of it;
Much Better memories than CoD fans have of their franchise's previous versions,

Overall I'd say It Outlasted Most Dreamcast/2001/GC games, ( not all ) & Remains my Favorite Sonic Game to Date,
The Chao Garden gave Great replay value & just kind of something for casual players to mess around with, and the upgrades are kinda nice touch,
I'll admit that I'd personally would love to see a SA3 of somekind. Sonic with some of the more modern upgrades/graphics would be amazing conbined with SA2's replay value.

Sorry if this sounds like a review XD and sorry for grammar/spelling errors, I tend to post big ;)
To Say it in 1-2 sentences. This may be the greatest overall game of 2001. Many Players Loved it and would hope to see a Modern Sequel to SA2, as it was much more innovative than CoD Ghosts is for its time.
Edit:
If You Know how "innovative" non-indie first person shooters such as CoD, are now, or at least the popular ones, you know what i mean,Not saying at all that all first-person shooters are bad now, But enough to get its share of complaints/references

I haven't Done Co-op for Steam Version, However Back when it was relatively new, ( GC and DreamCast Original Versions ) I Played Co-Op City Escape all the time ;) & I'll admit I still play Radical Highway & City Escape today, still think my Shadow Chao is awesome 9 years later XD, haven't played everyday of course tho ;)

Sorry for the late reeponse btw, But Yeah, If u want to be able to Play City Escape with your friends like Sonic Vs Shadow, Or Metal Sonic, I'd say the co-op is good for that, As i said no steam-experience w/ co-op, but experience with the DreamCast & GameCube Sonic Adventure 2 Versions, Which should be exactly the same with rendering, Also Treasure Hunt can be decent if you play one of the better mp stagers like Security Hall

Best Part of battle DLC is the Chao Karate, Kinda The same experience as Chao Racing except When your chao is better,
You also get a laugh when you replay the easier tourneys and watch your chao 1-hit-KO the competition with a Spinning Ninja Roundhouse and knocks them out of arena XD
Local unfortunately, STeam Ported the game from Dreamcast, Nintendo Wifi Compatibilty didnt exist so You couldnt do any online multiplayer, Still good mp, but better on console as consoles are made for mp & sp gameplay
dude I still say this is atleast within the top 5 Sonic games.....I got it simply because I had it on the dreamcast (yah, not gcn lol) and its just that good
personaly I like (in no real order) STH3, S. Adventure 2 (though SA1 did some things better) STH4 (both episodes) Generations, and (people are going to yell at me for this) Unleashed the most.... I havent beenable to get my hands on Colores cuz I dont have the system :(

and if we are counting spin-off games then Knuckles CHaotix would also be in this list...

for the record though.... I consider 06 to be better then SOnic Laberinth simply because Laberinth is a puzzle game with sonic's face slapped onto it to make it sell more and not an actual Sonic game! -.-"

now I want to play SA2 but my laptop dosnt have it installed T.T
