Not really. Crysis city is level from 06 and it was in Generations

Yeah you got me there, I didn't realize that until after I posted the comment. I never played Generations so it didn't hit me at first. If they remade Sonic 06 I would want a chao garden though.

What would be the point of remaking Sonic '06 when few people would buy the game because of its unpopularity? There isn't any way to fix the story.

Surprisingly, there are an increasing number of people that have come to like the story and the game (aside from annoyances at the glitches).

In particular, Mephiles the Dark is still insanely popular with the fans. Partly because he did what few villains ever do and just flat-out shoot and kill the hero; partly because he's creepy; and partly because he was voiced by Dan Green.

Silver has since been redeemed with his appearences in Sonic Rivals (the "whiny" parts removed. Silver is still determined to save his world (from the new firey monster, Ifrit, which Eggman Nega unleashed), but he has a little more sense now. Plus, he and Sonic now get along nicely (although they don't remember the events of '06, for obvious reasons).)

Elise...okay, yeah, people still hate her.
Even though she's done far less than what many real-life teenage girls fantasize about regarding Sonic, she still has people complaining about that one scene.
It also doesn't help with the fact that outside of the CGI cutscenes, her in-game model is in the "uncanny valley" (that is: she looks too real to be an animated character, but too fake to be realistic).
(Although, in the CGI cutscenes, I still say she resembles a grown-up version of Kairi from the Kingdom Hearts series.)

And finally, a lot of people liked the rest of the story just because "It's so bad, that it's good".
Sort of like how the opening scene of Zero Wing became so popular, despite the horrible translation (Including the legendary "All your base are belong to us" line)
