Still yet to really dig into Sonic Lost World and Sonic Colours. I actually really like the gameplay of Sonic Lost World so far, very reminiscent of the bonus stages of Sonic 1, 2 & 3.
Please goddddd no...
Crapcom has fallen way down lately. Living off dlc and remasters, the only fan service they really care for is their RE fanbase. Every other game fanbase of theirs, they've either deserted to rot or angered in some way. Just look at Megaman, Street Fighter, Dead Rising... I could go on but don't think I have to at this point.
Sega is doing great with Sonic. If people think Sonic is dying now, I'd hate to see Sonic in the hands of Crapcom. EA is bad but at least they have great in-house development and top-quality game engines under their belt.
I used to be s big Crapcom fan back in the day... MvC, PowerStone, Dino Crisis, ect but that was the Capcom of years ago, that's not Capcom today.
Edit: Nintendo acquiring Sonic would be just as painful for everyone to watch...
They were okay for handheld/mobile games but very poor when compared to the Sonic games that were released on Game Gear in the 90's, I don't expect Nintendo lovers to agree with me though because DS/3DS owners most likely missed out on the generation of where I am speaking from.
The Advance Sonic games just don't feel like true Sonic games to me.
Here are the best mobile Sonic games ever released...

Yeah, sorry about that. I'm old & it's been awhile :(
Huh? The early 90's Sonic games had a far bigger following than it does now lol
Even McDonald's reached out to Sega and featured different Sonic toys in Happy Meals for a year in the early 90's, while I don't agree that Sonic is dying today, it was more alive back in the early 90's then it is now or when it was on the Gamecube and Dreamcast.
Yes and No.
I feel that I can only agree with you to an extent...
I agree with you that the newer 3D Sonic games aren't trash, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 are great and so is Generations is phenomnenal and Lost World is really good but kids these days just can't admit that the newer games aren't as nearly as great as the older ones.
I wish I could say that it was just my nostalgic googles and my childhood but being someone who bought when I bought my Dreamcast on 9/9/99, yes, Sonic Adventure was the truly perfection at the time, however, in retrospective, realizing that it just doesn't hold up against the original 2D Sonics.
I semi-agree with you that every game has it's problems. Master Drive/Game Gear or even PS1 games didn't really have problems back then, they weren't buggy messes like games today -of course it's because the mire data is packed into the game, the more likely it is to have bugs. There's no real defense for the game-breaking coding that we are seeing in today's games though (and the past 5 years).
I'm not sure why people hate the older Sonic games, they were and will always be the first Sonic games and without them there would be no newer ones. I think that had kids of today grew up with the older games, they'd see things differently, not because of nostalgic reasons but for the progression and succession of the series.
There are certain newer Sonic games that should have never been made and the android/iOS games are an embarrassment to the Sonic franchise. I'm all for 3D/Modern Sonic but I just want it done right. We can't continue to support half-@$$ed games just because they are Sonic games.
Also, I'd like to see more marriages between the old and newer Sonic's. Generations was great because of that and I think it's cool to have both working alongside each other because they are so same yet completely different characters.
And on the other hand, I've played nearly an hour of Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Ep. 1 and every time I play it I cringe. It's as if Sega tried to mainstream the 2D platforming experience. Let me explain...
My problems with Sonic 4 Ep. 1 as of an hour in:
*The camera should have been further out, Sonic looks to big
*He moves super slow
*Homing attack? Really? Why?
*The game is WAY TOO EASY!
*Levels and bosses we've all seen before..
I expect Sonic players of this generation will love Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Ep.1 but as a veteran, I look at it as a joke. Seems like a very poorly handled attempt for recreating Sonic The Hedgehog 2 but murdering everything we love it in the process.
There are 2 different games. So I mean, I love some of the newer Sonic games but... Some are just horrible lol As a Sonic fan for many years, I can't praise Sega for something that isn't good. I can only give credit where it is due.
Please understand, My vendetta isn't with 3D Modern Sonic games, more like poorly made Sonic games in general. It was very rare to get a bad Sonic game in the early/mid 90's. Even the spin-offs like Spinball and Dr. Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine were great but I suppose that was at a time where Sega was on fire. Now it seems, people are settling for what could be better just because it holds a franchise name. Same thing with Jrpg's on Steam though, a crappy port gets released and people will give it a good rating just so that Steam will get more Jrpg's - and they're right, it will... problem is they'll just continue to get crappy ports of Jrpg's. I think some people are having that same mentality here and I cannot be a person that cheerishes a game that doesn't deserve to be. As a fan, I think Sonic deserves better than that, heck we all deserve better.
I can't wait to see what Sega does next though, a 25th anniversary something is in store :)
