Update Sonic Adventure 2 to run on windows 10
Sincce sonic was one of my favorite childhood games, I've decided to buy the games for steam and it seems like Sonic Adventure 2 isn't compatible for windows 10. I dont want to waste 10 dollars for nothing so if possible, fix this please. If anyone know anything about this, thanks in advance.

Game runs fine on Windows 10 for me. Sometimes, it could be as simple as an incompatible graphics card, your monitor running higher than 60Hz, or you may not meet the minimum running requirements. Mind putting your computer specs in a post. Similar to the bullet list below (my specs).

  • Operating System
  • RAM
  • Processor (dual-core, quad-core, i7, etc.)
  • Graphics (onboard or video card?)
  • Are you running DirectX 9c or higher?
  • Sound (onboard or sound card?)

My specs (to compare)
  • Windows 10

  • 4GB DDR2 (current)

  • Intel Dual-Core @ 2.2 GHz (current, previous processor)

  • AMD R7 200 Series (Video card) running @ 1080p 60Hz HDMI (current)
  • DirectX 10
  • HDMI

Outdated specs
  • 8GB DDR2 (outdated, 1 burned out)

  • Intel Quad-core @ 2.5 GHz (outdated, burned out)

  • ATI Radeon HD 4350 (Video card) running @ 1080p 60Hz HDMI (outdated)

I'm in the middle of the minimum and recommended requirements.

Edit - Feb. 17, 2018:
My laptop specs (to compare)
  • Windows 10
  • 8GB DDR4
  • Intel Core i5 7th Gen @ 2.5 GHz
  • Intel HD Graphics
  • DirectX 12
  • Onboard Realtek HD Audio

With those specs, you should run it no problem. Does it give you a specific error or the generic "Sonic2App.exe has stopped responding!" It might have something to do with your Monitor's refresh rate. How high can your monitor's refresh rate go? I don't think SA2 can go past a 60Hz refresh rate. If it does, it probably caps at 70Hz - 120Hz.

Right click your Desktop, select "Display Settings" -> Advanced Display Settings -> Display Adapter Properties -> Monitor Tab and check your refresh rate.

The actual Tech support on Steam sucks. I'm trying my best.

ill check on the refresh rate soon but it doesnt tell me an error, it just doesnt pops up

Actually there's a simpler way if you need it as the game doesn't like windows 10.

If you go into the game files and right click on the sonic2app.exe and pull up the file's properties, there should be a compatability tab. You should check a box allowing you to select a comparability mode them be able to select windows 7.

Why do people say it doesn't like Windows 10? It runs fine for me, 3 years after I posted my original specs, even on my laptop (running Windows 10 Ver. 1709), no compatibility mode enabled.

Fix for index argument being zero (and for other stuff):
