Controller not working

I can't get either of my controller (nintendo switch pro and xbox one) to work with the game. They both work fine on other steam and non-steam games.
I've even installed SA mod manager and the SA2 input control mod but it doesn't make any difference.
Did anyone encounter the same problem and has a fix?

Did you select the controller in the game launcher?

It defaults to keyboard
