Anyone know how chao breeding for an all S-rank chao works or have a link to a guide?
I thought I had it all down correctly: Chao have their genetic rank (e.g. ABCDE) and then when they evolve, one rank goes up (e.g. SBCDE). Each chao has two possible stat grades it can pass on to the child, the genetic rank and the current rank. So if you breeded a chao with A as a genetic rank and S as an improved rank, with a chao with A as genetic and A as current, there is a 25% chance of having an S rank baby chao in that area.

But after keeping breeding tables of all my chao, I am sure of the two which I mated, and if my system was correct (which I thought was because I had seen others use it), the chao should have a CERTAIN C rank in flying, since both parents had straight Cs in flying, no evolution to improve it from a D rank, but the baby had a rank D in flying.

Please can someone more experienced help with this, because it's my goal to get an all S-rank chao.

You've got the right idea about everything except that you're missing how a Chao's every feature has two alleles in their DNA, one from each parent.

One of the two Chao might have inherited a C in flying from one of his parents, but his other parent might have been a D, and that D still lies hidden away in his genes. And that D can in turn find itself in his offspring. Add to that that the other Chao might have the same deal, and it ups the chances even more.

So basically, by breeding an A and and S rank in running, and getting an S rank running chao, it doesn't completely wipe the A rank out? So it's kinda like the S is dominant and the A is recessive? And you'd have to breed two S rank stat chao to get a definitive S in that area?

Yes, that's it.
