Why does eggman not speak english like everyone else?

No, seriously. Ryan Drummond's "Teria!" in that one cutscene, and Sonic Heroes continued the tradition with stuff like Knuckles's "Shaa!" It was just a thing going on at the time with Sega.

I can assure you all the japanese words spoken in the english language setup ARE spoken by the english VAs... why? Because the Japanese voice director insisted on it for some dumb reason I suspect.

Tails has a similar line when you pick up and "shake" the chao (I don't know the proper term right now). It doesn't bother me in the least though. But then again, I'm heavy into anime as it is.

I Japan, it's commonplace for Sonic to randomly speak English. The tradition was most common in Sonic X. I like to imagine that the English team decided to return the favour. Only instead of it coming off as cool, it created memes.

Eggman has some weird lines to be honest, when he laughs near the end of Crazy Gadget it bugs me because even as I kid it never sounded like him at all.

Guess they didn't get round to recording everything or was too late to get the voice actor to do them.
