Game crashes everytime I load in
Today I download SA2 Mod Loader, and every time I start up the game it would crash after the SEGA Logo was shown. It'd be much appreciated if someone could help me out and tell me what i'm doing wrong.

Does it crash without the mod loader too?

You might have set it up incorrectly in that case

Switch it to windowed fullscreen in the mod loader settings. This game tends to crash in fullscreen.
My game used to crash with fps lock enabled in mod loader. Locked it with NVIDIA Panel and changed to windowed fullscreen. Works. Still, sometimes the game freezes though but mostly works fine. But heck SEGA with broken launcher on Windows 10. Had to learn their messy keyboard input instead of setting my own.

Tried it, it still crashes.

It crashes with the mod loader installed.

I've been having the same problem too. I've noticed though that if I start the game without a controller connected, it's less likely to crash, but I can't use a controller to play the game. Plus, it seems to eat up CPU if I play the game and try to record with OBS. Other than that lead, I have no idea how to fix this.

Did you download "Microsoft Visual Studio C++ x86 Packages"?

It might have to do with installing it multiple times. Check your AppData folder (under “users > your username”)
And delete the files there. It might work

I have no mods installed. I am on Windows 11 Home. It brings up the settings window. I choose the appropriate settings, and it stops. I've never been able to actually play this game. Packages are downloaded.

It is partially recommended to have the Mod Loader set up, even if you don't use any mods. Cause it does have some extra settings automatically set up to make the game run on modern PCs.

Like having an option to automatically lock your fps if you check it.

Or check the PC Wiki since that website is really good at listing specific fixes for older games.

I know this is an old game, but I've spent a lot of time fixing games so that they will run. I have the worst luck ever.

At least you are a bit lucky since this game is still known enough to get fan support. Older games that have mostly been forgotten have it a lot worse.
