how do you make hero/dark chao

it depends on who is taking care of it, if you want it to be a hero chao, play sonic, tails, or knuckles and take care of the choa into a hero. If you want a dark chao, play as shadow, rouge, or eggman and take care of the chao you want to turn dark. takes some time. good luck

If you repeatedly pet a chao you will see a heart show up. The more you press to pet the more the heart appears. The chaos appearance will start to become darker or lighter colored depending on who you choose. After a certain amount of time passes the Chao will go into a cocoon and evolve into a Hero, Dark, or Neutral chao

the people above are correct... just care for your chao with either hero or dark.... raising it equally with both hero and dark to make/keep it neutral.... (also which character did you use that made it paler, i know its a hero character since pale is a whiteish color)

I mean you could ALSO abuse it with one alignment character and it'll tend towards the opposite alignment but that's kind of a bad idea. The quickest way I've found is to spam the pet button. Every heart that appears is +1 alignment towards whoever's petting it, I think. Or at least, alignment shifts every time a heart appears. So holding down the pet button won't work that well since there's only one heart that appears with that.
