[FIXED] Green Forest and White Jungle performance problems
The issue at hand

<Short Explanation>

These two stages exclusively lag for me.

<Long Explanation>

I've had this game installed for a while, and I've been able to play Green Forest on this PC I know for certain without any lag. Today, when I loaded up White Jungle for the heck of it, the game slowed down to a crawl, I double checked other larger stages or stages with vast backgrounds such as Meteor Herd, Mad Space, Metal Harbor, Hidden Base and even stages with move complex lighting such as Lost Colony, and no other stages had this issue.
I've also played through the entire story mode lag free on vastly inferior hardware, so I figured I may as well come here for help.

Specs I'm running on

Before anyone says anything, I'm aware my build is outdated, but it's still above this games recommended requirements

OS: Windows 10 Pro

Processor: AMD FX-8320 8-Core 3.50 GHz

Memory: 24 GB Installed (16 GB usable)

Graphics Card: MSI Radeon R9 270 (Factory Overclocked variant, Clock Speed defaults to 955 MHz instead of 900 MHz)

If additional information is needed, I will provide what I can. Thank you kindly for your time!

UPDATE: I found a way to fix it, and potentially the cause!

So, after a bit of independent research, I found out that the latest version of Radeon Software that I'm able to run (21.5.1) seems to have issues with games that run on the Direct3D 9 API, which Sonic Adventure 2 happens to be one of. Obviously I'm not about to revert my entire driver back because one game broke, so I found a quick solution that may potentially help anyone who's also suffering this issue.

Simply use the latest version of DXVK[github.com] to translate the render API from D3D9 to Vulkan.
You can do this by downloading the latest release on the GitHub link provided above, extracting the .tar.gz file, and copying the corresponding DLL into the games directory.
I recommend enabling shader caching in steam if you get any stutters while playing, but this fixed both Green Forest and White Jungle for me, and both run 60 FPS without issue!

My man, thanks a lot, I know this was from 2021 but you're an absolute lifesaver.

No problem!

Sorry, which file has to be placed in the game folder? Because I put the d3d9.dll in the game folder and the game keeps running with lag in those 2 specific levels. These are my specs:
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 3700U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.30 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (13.9 GB usable)
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Were you able to solve it? I'm having the same problem, but I'm terrible with computers and don't understand what I should do.
