1. I'm playing it on the Wii with component cables and it still looks amazing on my HDTV. Sadly no progressive scan since here in Australia we use the PAL region and PAL GameCube games never had 480p (it did support 60hz though) but at the very least it looks way better than with composite cables, so I'd actually suggest playing that version on the Wii.
2. Memory cards - This was what I loved about the PS1 and PS2, and the same applies for the GameCube. Imagine, you have siblings that also want to play, but don't want to share your chao garden data. You can buy them seperate memory cards so they can use theirs when it's their turn. You can even bring the memory cards to a friend's place and use your chao to battle or race your friend's chao on their memory card, which I believe you cannot do on any other version that isn't Dreamcast.
3. You can use the GCN to GBA cable to transfer your chao to the Tiny Chao Garden if you have a copy of Sonic Advance, which I thought was a very neat way to implement the Dreamcast VMU features into the GCN version in some way. The PSN, XBLA and Steam versions do not support this feature at all whatsoever. The PS3 version doesn't even let you transfer them to a PSP which was a missed opportunity.
Memory cards have basically been replaced with hard drives, so if you wanted to swap chao gardens you could still do it I think. The 360's hard drive is removable & you could use external Hard Drives on the Xbox One & bring your chao garden with you that way, as long as you have internet access & can connect to your Xbox Live account you can play your games on any Xbox One. You can even sync your controller to your account so all you have to do is plug in your controller & hard drive then you're done. I love the convenience factor that Xbox gives people with stuff like this. Of course, without internet it becomes less convenient which is why I think physical media is still important. That's another reason why I rebought a copy of the GCN version.
As for the VMU functionality with the GBA, I think that's a feature not many people cared about. It's still neat that it's doable & I do still have my original copy of Sonic advance & a GBA/GCN link cable if I ever wanted to use it but I don't think I'll ever be using that feature ever again. Still, it was neat caring for my chao in school during class back then.
1) Gamecube.
2) Dreamcast
3) PC
4) Everything else.
With patches and mods to fix the PC issues to make it more like the Gamecube and Dreamcast it would be
1) PC
2) Gamecube
3) Dreamcast
4) Everything else
2) Gamecube
3) PC
PC version's got mods, which is nice, but it's a pretty bad port on its own.
P.S I don't hate sonic i just don't like any game after adventure 2.
