Is Shadow technically Eggman's Uncle

This means:
Eggman's parents and Shadow are siblings
Shadow is Eggman's Uncle

Don't all characters ever have some kind of family to begin with? It should be obvious as to why that is. It's just that the games never explored his family more in-depth until this point.

Yeah but it's not needed, we don't even need to know who was Ganondorf's mother (and father? We don't know how Gerudos managed to live that long with only women) just that he's the king of the Gerudo according to a legend.

Even the Koopalings are just Bowser's commanders and Bowser Jr was just a plot device for Sunshine, nothing else.

Well Gerald and Maria were plot devices to give Eggman and Shadow motivation

Instead of asking "Why", A better question would be "Why Not?" Why not allow us to know more about Eggman? Why not explore about his past? Only thing that was needed was executing it well and it was done nicely. And these things finally played a major role in SA2 which gave the game a better experience.

I have also a question related to Eggman's family , if Gerald was a good scientist dedicated his researches to help humanity , why Eggman became evil scientist , being the opposite of his granpa was ?
I don't know if SEGA answered this or not , but if yes I would like to know .

It's just how they grow. Even Gerald changed his ways and decided to destroy humanity when he got betrayed. Similarly, even something like that must have happened to Eggman when he was a child. But still, even if he is evil, he still has that goodness from his grandfather inside him, Which can be seen in many games.

Edit: In one of the twitter takeover, a person asked why eggman is evil. He answered "Why is water wet? Why do birds fly? Similarly, I am eggman, so I am evil." lol
