I don't have a GameBanana account so I can't make it myself or request it.
If anyone who is capable of modding the game, or the very least has a GameBanana account to submit requests to, that's the only way I see to fix the game.
I know there is way to fix the game, I think through graphics card settings or something like that, but I can't remember the steps and it's a hassle to go through all the time just to play a game from 2001.
I might have to copy paste this text for future use somewhere because I've lost count of how many times I've had to tell someone this lol. Unfortunately, SEGA seems to have no interest in fixing the various bugs and glitches in this port.
You have two solutions:
A) Go to "LIBRARY", click on Sonic Adventure 2, click on "Manage" (the little gear icon), click "Properties", select the "Local Files" tab in the pop-up, click "Verify Integrity of Files".
B) If that doesn't work, you'll have to do this. Close Steam completely and then locate a file named "ClientRegistry.blob" via File Explorer (you may use the search function if it helps). Delete it and then restart your laptop/PC. After this, Sonic Adventure 2 should launch perfectly.
It strange because I have another skin for Rouge that is configured just like it and it works just fine.
I also noticed that if you Verify the files and then open the SA2ModManager it will say "Installed loader DLL differs from copy in mods folder. Do you want to overwrite the installed copy?" I think the DLL being the core aspects of the game that the modloader changes on behalf of the mods, so if it's also doing something to whatever DLL that is causing the crashes I do not know.
So it took awhile to find that .blob, it was on the other drive of all places. I deleted it and reset my computer.
I tried playing SA2B on full mode and... crashes. So either I can't find the .blob I was suppose to delete or that doesn't work.
While the game is playable without SA2ModManager, not without the game window being boarderless.
If you never used mods or mod launchers for SA2 (playing it vanilla) and the game can be played in full screen with no problem then maybe there is something wrong with the mod launcher that is causing it. It's hard to tell if the mods are crashing the game or if the game is crashing vanilla.
If you're using SA2ModManager with various mods and the game still crashes, it might be because of a mod or mods that are causing it.
I also noticed that a skin mod seems to crashes the game in despite another skin mod like it causing no problems. Testing some mods I have it doesn't appear to like most of them... So sorry, but this is the closest I ever got to the game working in a long while so it's still something.
Not sure why I didn't get a notif for this one but I'm glad it somewhat worked out! If I discover a completely foolproof solution, I'll hit you up.
