The Game makes no sense
It's filled with many plot holes, the whole "Blue Hedgehog got mixed up with Black & Red Hedgehog" doesn't make sense because they had a clear shot at Shadow. Then there's the not Death Egg Ark Colony, where does it came from? Why Robotnik didn't use it before? And finally why are there humans on Mobius?

Take Doom Vs. Doom 2016. Sure, Doom 2016 beats the original Doom in a lot of ways. Graphics, gameplay, sounds, etc. But the original Doom still has its merits and can be pretty fun. Sonic Adventure is the same thing. A great game IMO for 1998 that's still playable today, especially if you get into the modding aspect of it. Once the Sonic Adventure Remake is made, if ever, it might actually be an amazing game for the next 20 years until we start calling the Sonic Adventure Remake an aged game. Lol.

There is definitely a retro appeal to a lot of the old graphics, gameplay, sounds and music. But that doesn't mean the new graphics are worse just because you grew up with the old one. Same thing with other classics like Spyro and Crash. While I may prefer the PS1 look for these games, that doesn't mean I don't like the PS4 look. On the other hand, a lot of 6th gen games can still look great today, especially with component cables and (depending on the game) progressive scan.

If the Adventure remake is done really well, it might even bring the series back to its former glory, which is halfway there with Mania, we just need the same thing for a 3D game. After all, Capcom has made an amazing comeback lately after plenty of awful titles and bad business practices and has done a complete 180 on a lot of those things with excellent Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes and Mega Man 11 and the Legacy Collections, why can't SEGA do the same for Sonic?

I always took Sonic being mistaken for Shadow as a cartoony mishap, since I don't think it was ever the intention of the writers to ever be realistic. Not using that as an excuse, that's just how I interpreted it when I saw that for the first time.

The reason Robotnik never used the ARK before is because he didn't know about it until he found his Grandfather's diary. The ARK itself was the first space colony constructed by man 50 years ago, and it was used by GUN for research and development.

As for why there's humans on Mobius, I don't have a clear answer for that, as I'm not too knowledgeable on the lore around Mobius itself. I once heard someone say that the reason Sonic and friends never encountered more humans other than Robotnik before is because they lived on islands separate from the rest of the world, this can be seen in the 'Stage Select' screen. I don't know how plausible that explanation is, but there ya go.

Hope this helps, I always like discussing this game!

Not really, the Classic serie was always in a fantastical world while Sonic Adventure put realistic places
No, they weren't. I literally just explained to you previously. The classic games take place in a semi realistic world. Most of the level themes are based off of regular real world locals(examples: a mountain area jungle, abandoned ruins, industrial workplaces, a literal casino with a city in the background) and you fight mechs build by a scientist.
And don't use the excuse of "there aren't floating platforms in the real world", Adventure has floating platforms too, the Angel Island even makes an appearance in Adventure 1.
As I said before, Sonic is more science fiction, that's how he was also advertised to give him an edge over Mario in the 90s. One of the fantastical things from it would be the Chaos Emeralds.

The games don't really take place on Mobius, that was an invention by the American localization team and it was only fully integrated in the cartoons and comics.
Sonic takes place on some fictional Earth where humans co-exist with these anthropomorphic animals, and it's a bit implied they exist in the classic games too. Some art for Sonic Jam even has humans in it.

idk why these npc-tier arguments get brought up but to address OP's points without wasting my time marathoning this thread:

> first point is mute and is derived from proving how smart people try and act by pointing out some kind of "plothole" with anything because they think this game has "tainted" Sonic in some unholy way. If the game told you the opposite, that the black hedgehog was in fact Sonic without any context of knowing who Shadow this game or future games, you'd think he was a dark form of Sonic, just like everyone else who barely knows Sonic.

> the ARK is supposed to be a place of mystery and atmosphere akin to an abandoned illegal-to-enter area. There's no need to hand-feed you info about every origin of everything in this game. If you really have to know, it was probably some engineers.
It's not even a plothole. Plothole doesn't mean unexplained things in the story, it means if things make no sense in the story.

> Eggman didn't use it before because it was just another moon in the sky before he read his grandfather's diary.

> This game's planet was never presented as Mobius. It was presented as Earth. I know how much people want to connect every little lore of Sonic together, but this game takes place on Earth. With humans. Like me and you. It's supposed to be relatable like that. Sonic adventured small isolated islands in the classic games, now he's in the big cities.

I dunno what this is about... Anyway I still remember that "True Sonic Spirit" (which makes no sense) thing where Tracker (a great guy btw) called out for their stupidity...

PS: I think it's the same kind of people who ran that page so it's not a surprise if they're disrespectuf toward the rest of the fanbase.

How? You're saying that because you dislike his opinion despite the fact he's one of the best Sonic fan I've ever seen on Twitter

Being the "best Sonic fan" is highly subjective.
