Game Mod Crash
I had my friend install SA2 Mod Loader and we selected the mods we downloaded from Mainmemory's website. Whenever I start the game, it crashes after the omochao screen comes up. I also don't have the Battle DLC, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

For me the game crashes half the time there. I just relaunch it until it works. I've always assumed the game was just badly coded, but now I'm having second thoughts...

Regardless, did you install all the requisites for the mod loader? Be sure the C++ runtime is the x86 version.

I installed the mods for her and I think it might be crashing because she doen't have the Battle DLC. We'll try again at the end of the week. I don't know what C++ runtime is though.

The Visual Studio redistributables.

Can you explain what that does please?

As per the mod loader page itself: "The loader dll requires the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 runtime, and the mod manager program requires .NET Framework 4.0."

Simply enter Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 runtime into Google to get it.

I'll see if she has it.

I have both the x64 and x86 2013 runtime versions installed as well as the .NET already on my computer, yet this problem still persists and crashes at the loading Omochao tip. I've tried the x86 and x64 versions installed separate as well, and checking the border-less windowed option too. The only way to run SA2 is to uninstall the mod loader.

I've been looking around online in many searches and I've reached a dead end.

I'm also having this problem as of today. I haven't tried to play SA2 in a few months but I've never had persistent issues getting into the chao garden before until right now.

I got a reply from the mod developer that fixed my issue! I needed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 x86 redist. Hopefully this fixes your problem.

If people are still having trouble getting this to work - run the mod manager/loader in compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3 - after doing this I loaded into the menu successfully.

Mine basically stops at a certain point, and it's weird. I used an original shoes Sonic or Trial Shoes Sonic, and the game crashes when Sonic's done with Metal Harbor, and I can't continue. Is there some way to fix this?
