The game won't start

I trry to open the game and when I launch it nothing happens. Help

Check the game's folder, and see if it has sonic2app.exe in it.

If not, then your antivirus deleted it.
You'll need to whitelist it (or exclude from scan, or report it as a false positive) in your antivirus, then Verify the Integrity of Game files, to re-download it.

Right-click Sonic Adventure 2 in your Steam Library, and hit "Properties".
Under the "Local Files" tab, hit the button "Verify Integrity of Game Files".

That will cause Steam to re-download any missing files for the game.

I got it going now thanks, but i doesn't let me play it. it stays in file select and it doesn't move from there

Look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sonic Adventure 2\resource\gd_PC
and there should be a folder called SAVEDATA.

If not, then create a folder and call it SAVEDATA.

I did this, but it still doesn't load past "preparing to launch." I also whitelisted the game so idrk what to do

Right-click Sonic Adventure 2 in your Steam Library, and hit "Properties".
Under the "Local Files" tab, hit the button Browse... After that, double click on launcher. This should reinstall nessessary files.

Haha wow, I can't believe this was the issue. SEGA can suck it.

I have ALLL of the required things but despite all of that my game wont run help me please somebody I just wanna ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play sonic adventure 2 after seeing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Sonic 3 the movie!!

Not having .NET framework installed can prevent the launcher from starting. Go into the local game files and click the "launcher". You should be prompted to install .NET. After it installs you should be able to launch the game from steam. Hope this helps.

I was having this problem and someone suggested getting the SA mod manager and running the game through it and now it launches just fine. Heres the link
