Tails 1st misson - Why cant I fly?

Im playing the first mission as tails and there is a platform that has a chao box that I cannot get to. I looked up on youtube for how to get to it after a long time of frustration come to find out that tails jumps from ledge and flyings...eh "Hovers" across to the platform. None of my keys allow me to do this action and I just end up dying. Im using a keyboard.

It's an upgrade you get later in the game.

Most people who make videos have already beat the game so they have all the upgrades already.

Later? If you're talking about the Jet Anklet you can get that before the first mission even starts.

The jet anklet is from Sonic Adventure 1 where talking about 2 here.

The boster which is what OP wants is found during the Mission Street stage which is the 7th level in the hero story.
