Though there are other ways to get grass and leaves.
Some crops that leave behind some remnants that need to be cleared after being harvested, such as Cotton, can produce leaves.
And Wheat/Rice will produce straw, which is tuft of grass, just differently colored.
They're not exactly the same if you use them as the primary material in crafting. Straw has a higher Quality, cold res + and fire res --, has different equipment stats (more DV, less PV damage and to-hit), weighs less, and is worth less.
I have 2k of tuft of grass and deep grass (which is yellower for some reason) and I have no idea where they come from.
You get tufts of grass sometimes when gathering flowers and always when gathering weeds. Deep grass I think you get from gathering withered bushes? You also get this stuff when you dig up the grass on the ground, which one you get depends on the material of that grass (Meadow is all grass, Vernis is about half grass half deep grass)
I have planted some decorative trees here and there, and I figured rather than having it wilt or just defertilized I could just plop down farm signs everywhere and hide them with the visibility tool in the build menu.
