Elin
I think I get a bad rng for my first run
ok I am 154 days in and basically get things running in my town
can deal with most enemies between my town and the tax paying city
Thinking I should finally be able to deal with Nymelle quest if I am careful

Comes Mercenary with square bracket (the special strong version of enemy)
camping right at the entrance, can't out run him, and have to fight him every time while getting gank by all other enemies
so far get him to down to last 1/3 last 3 times I tried

help :(

I’d say do some serious grinding for stats, gear in the puppy cave and other random spawns nearby…. Additionally I think nymelle will reset if you don’t go there for a very long time (don’t quote me on that)

The best policy is if you can't beat an enemy then double your current stats. That will for sure let you beat them

what class / profession you start as? i was able to beat that nymelle on like day 60 as a warrior and day 50 as a thief. of you started as a farmer or something it might just take you longer to get combat ready , in short, go farm low level caves, hopefully you picked little girl as starting companion as she usually spawns as a tank, and has the taunt ability so no matter what class you pick , let her taunt, then hit, when she looses agro, back off till she taunts again then do dps. rinse and repeat. make sure to get silk bandages asap too!

even if you lack the skills keep a bow and arrows on you, as the little girl, when raised as a tank, even if fighting super strong stuff can usually out heal any damage and if you use ranged weapons or spells she will never loose agro

Teleport spell, teleport rod, will save you from unfavorable situations, I have like 10 rods saved up just incase.

Not gonna lie since it is my first run I have went full "pick what sounds fun" mode and
went Chaos Shape Warmage, grow a few body part and mainly gear to evasion because I realize I can't tank at all with my health pool

Now I mainly host little girl on me but I think even she can't tank enough hit from all directions (funny thing that I pick the second youngest option (24) in my character creation and the little girl (25) is older than me)

I believe the teleport method is the best bet for me now since the entrance have absolutely no cover and right at the middle of every thing (ganked by 4-6 enemies every time)

guess I will do a few dog cave run to grab some teleport stuff

thanks every one!

i tried chaos too its sub optimal i tried 20 hours on it ended up with 4 back pieces 1 arm 1 hand no chest or head and it was wild

i think chaos is more for a challenge run as far as you dont know what you will get and for when you know more about the game i would highly reccomend a restart for your first run and pick a normal race. warmage is fine but chaos can really loose you a ton of feat points that are needed for core stat potential depending on class

my overall suggestion would be restart pick warrior, thief or farmer then farm dog mine until you cvan craft basalt pick! hardnesss matters a lot for gear stats and for tools!!!

then once you have basalt pick and some gear go to the capital phymia with a lute and raise your chrisma at the casino for a bit using said lute and ear about 1-5k gold every 5-15min depending on music level

first two skills should be musicmanship and antaomy to feed yourself gold and food.

once you got gold hit up black market in darphy ot port k for good gear

then play however. that has been my start on a warrior, mage and thief and gunner it gets you ton of gold and a basalt pick to mine copper and such

if you need a smelter use furniture tickets to purchase one in mylesia

theres no wrong way to play, i just basically suggest try something more simple before you try a challange run with chaos as that takes so many feats points and potential on base stats is huge everything over 100 is bonus xp so at 150 potential you get 150% xp on that core stat and skill and pay attention to food buffs , food is your main source for gaining stats for you and followers

i dont reccomen symbiotic as it slows you attack speed by about 25% to 50% depending on skill level which means you might attack once for every 2 or 3 of their attacks , same with rider i expermenting with them a lot, always felt better and more dps and more survival even up yo rank 25 dungeons without using that stuff it sounds cool but its really weak in the end. Luck is king stat as high luck will reroll bad rolls for your favor, second best stat in game is speed. if you try to get luck and speed on everything , then nothing should ever bother you, make sure to acid proof and fire proof all gear too!

anyway gl hf

I just managed to beat the guy by praying before I die hahaha
yeah I do think chaos shape is a little hard to manage but don't want to give that up yet

do want to start a new with another save tho

my only woe was it took forever to get myself a basalt pick on this save thus I assume it have very low spawn chance

This game is a larger than expectation rabbit hole and it's only early access
I am very please :steamhappy:

basalt stone spawns in puppy cave. just nab highest hardness you can after granite and keep respawning cave i literally jst started new save and had a basalt pick within 30min to test. just reload puppy cave until you get spawns of disort or whatever and then go upgrade pick to hardness 45 then you can nab basalt stalgmites with hardness 46 or whatever disort gives with 10 mining and 10 mining can be achived by just mining dirt in puppy cave.

Yeah early game I wasted 1-2 months getting a basalt pickaxe and a basic cane from puppy cave's ressources along doing others basic setups.

It's not really important to grind for pickaxe early on. Basalt is ♥♥♥♥ anyway, and unless you get to a good 10-15 in mining you won't be able to get even Iron. Copper and iron sell for scraps coins anyway. Gems are the big payload, but you'll need about 20 mining and steel pickaxe for Onyx/lapis/cobalt

If I would remake a character, I would ditch digging and pickaxe until I get to Vernis, There I would salvage Iron to get a decent pickaxe and grind dirt easily in the mine to level up digging. As for the cane, I would just head for the beach, get some sand and turn it to fragments. The gems needed are easily available in wrecks that spawn in the cave.

depends on class really, basalt is good if playing like a gunner so you can mine the copper for bullets but yeah otherwise its not really needed its also nice for early tank stone gear

that would defin work too. theres defin. no worng to play. good luck on your runs!

My go to when fighting hard to deal with enemies is getting them drunk. cursed bottles of anything alcoholic is great. They vomit all over the place and cant seem to focus well enough to fight :urist:
