Obtaining Skill EXP for things like Crafting

What's the skill EXP gain for stuff like Crafting/Carpentry/etc based on?
Is it the level of the recipe relative to your current skill level?
Or is it the amount of Stamina you spend crafting?
I've noticed that recipes that became costless, Stamina-wise, don't give any skill EXP, so I was assuming it was stamina-based, but I'm unsure.

Like will a level 2 recipe that costs 2 stamina give the same training as a level 6 2 stamina recipe?

The skill exp gains are kinda small, so it's hard to really tell.

It's based purely on stamina cost, so looking for high stamina cost and low resource cost recipes and mass producing them up to your stamina limit is the most efficient way to level up those skills.
