Are NPC's supposed to have no walking animations?
So decided to give this game a try, but I noticed NPCs just teleport around when moving, no walking animations or anything. I just got my pet or follower, and it it just... moves behind me with a static pose.. feels as if I am just dragging it around.

Is that intended or is my game bugged? My character animates fine, so why can't NPCs?

1 charater animate needs at least 8 different drawings. 100 charaters need at least 800 drawings. Not to mention the potiential threat to game's memory.

So has the dev said if they intend on fixing this down the road? Or will they just use laziness as an excuse to never give other characters a simple walking animation?

I mean at least give your followers or pets animations, feels like I am dragging a corpse around.

I think it's silly to accuse noa of laziness when they've been updating the game within nigh 24 hours of the previous update for over two weeks now.

I think every aspect of the game is moddable, so if noa doesn't get around to it someone will. I am guessing he has a higher priority on game content for the moment as the storyline needs to be fleshed out, main quest dungeons created, crafting is only partially completed as a lot of other things from his other games will likely be added in.

You can change your followers to use PCC. Dismas Richter has written a guide for it.

Dying pancake Wait a minute! Your character animate just fine and is customizable. NPCs all use the exact same customization models... There's no excuse here! 2024 game that don't even have the basics... And what's "2d4+12"? Can't add icons to dices and for multiplier? This is either laziness or they don't know how video games works and never got out of their room for 25+ years

You can go ahead and code those as mods if you want them

Dnd style damage is just irrational complexity for the sake of style.

the game doesn't actually roll a dice to determine damage calculations I think, it will bog down combat computations a lot.

In a 60 fps game you have 16ms of frame timing to fit all the work in between frames. So imagine a roundabout dice rolling 20 times in a row for every party member using a bunch of objects at once within a frame or two lol...

The game's on unity too, so you'd need to be very very careful with how much complexity you'd want the mods to do.

then go ahead and go make us the greatest game of all time.Listening to you makes it seem to easily. To be honest it doesnt bother me at all that my companion just warp around following me. Not all games needs to be triple A standards and what not. ive putted near 140h on this game as it is and it perfectly fine, ive set it aside a few days ago because i felt like nothing can kill me anymore at the moment, but i barely touched a bunch of the game core mechanics still.If making games that enjoyable that easy then go nuts and make us a good game that people will buy and then people are gonna get entitle and tell you everything you should be changing to make it better.

2d4+12 = 14 to 20 damage. It's not that hard to get.
