How to start certain skills?

How does one get the cooking skill to start earning xp?
Same with farming?

Is it just a random chance to gain it from your learning stat?
or do you need to go somewhere very specific to get the training?
If so thats a bummer and do you know where?

Related to farming, if you harvest tomatos will they ever grow back?

You need to find respective trainers and pay them with platinum coins. For instance, I think you can learn cooking in Olvina, although there might also be a trainer in the Tinker's camp.

You need to go to trainers in settlements. Each trainer has their own skills they provide.

Cooking trainers are in either Olvina or Palmia. Olvina is easier to reach if you're doing the standard start (it's practically straight south from the first home location). Farmer class starts with this skill already learned.

Since it's related, Yowyn is where you get the farming skill - it's on the way to Palmia, north east from the default first home location.

Yes tomatoes will grow back. They can be harvested twice before they need to be planted again. Some crops like tomatoes are like this and others aren't.
