How do you increase your hit points?

Seriously, hanging yourself at gallows will make the NPCs attack you, which trains endurance. You can not die this way and they will keep attacking you until your stamina hits zero and your hp will never drop bellow 1 so you can not die this way either. As a bonus it also trains your follower's attack stats too.

Strength, Endurance and Will are all attributes that contribute to the health pool. Increasing experience any skill that corresponds to those attributes will give exp to these stats, which in turn will raise max HP when they level up.

Also eating any food that has traits governing these stats (usually meats give strength and a bit of endurance) will give these stats experience as well.

You can also increase your life potential via a feat when you gain enough experience; this doesn't raise your max HP directly specifically, but rather how much these stats will effect your life stat potential, which is governed based on the race you've select. Fairies for example only have a life potential of "35", so they will only gain 35% of the HP most races would get who have a default life potential of 100; but they also have a whopping 180 to mana, meaning they get 80% more MP than most races from stats that raise MP.

The feat gives +4 life potential per level, and can be taken five times for a total of +20 life potential.
On races with default life of 100, that's like 20% more HP, but on something like a fairy, that nearly comes to being more than 50% more HP than they had before because their life potential goes from 35 to 55.
Basically if you're a more magic-oriented race, it becomes more valuable to pick up, but not so much if you're a race that's already bulky, like a golem that has 150 life potential by default.

I really don't understand how attirbutes are supposed to work. I leveled up my skills and ate stuff corresponding to these stats and yet my attributes have never gone up while for some reason my hp/energy has gone up... This game could really really use some better explanation of these things.

you can also increase your HP by taking the lone soul feat. At lvl5 of the feat, that's +5% max HP, MP and speed per vacant ally slot, so it scale pretty well with feats that increase your party size and charisma

So, I found out that my character had ether sickness. However my ho is still only 15 points after fixing that.

How advanced was the disease?
One potion of ether antibody might not have cured all the symptoms.
Were you fully cured?

But, otherwise...
I dunno, stop by a healer and pay them to heal you?
Maybe you've got some weird hidden stat damage, or something.

you also need to take damage and let it heal over time to increase your Max Health, same fore Max Mana and Max Stamina.

it need to be "Used" to get Stronger, so if you never take Damage, then you will not increase as much Max HP as if you regularly do take damage.

there is several way's to take intentional Damage at an relatively Predictable Rate, like overworking and take damage from the amount used of stamina and the amount it is in the Negative, same fore overcasting.

or use the Self Harm Ability, that also act as a Slower Short range Teleport, so be careful around Water if you can't swim...

Rather this is the smartest thing anyone has ever said for this game OR it will be a fantastic way for you to get reported. However, that is the literal definition of "Using your head" or rather your neck in this instance.
