One of the limitations you have to work around with Magic is your spell stock.
It's basically like ammo, but for magic. Well, Mana is as well.
I think there are ways to more reliably stock the spells you want, but the simplest passive way I can think of is learning the Dream Waker feat, which gives you some casts of a random spell within your "domain" every time you go to sleep.
It could be a good idea to put a feat point toward that immediately, it's a decent way to get some casts just through everyday living.
At level 2 it gives you more casts per sleep, and at level 3 is can give you casts of high-level spells.
You can check your magic domains on your character's info window on the "Note" page.
I think eventually during the story you'll run into an NPC who will start a Spellwriter service, where you can register spellbooks for him to copy and be able to buy them from him.
He should restock them every month.
He starts with a default of only 3 "slots" for spellbooks, but if you Invest in his shop I think he can get up to 10.
And the books he copies maintain the "charges" of the one you initially put in, so don't give him spellbooks with, like, 1 charge remaining if you can help it.
Anyways, also make sure you're improving your Memorization, Literacy, and such skills so you waste less books and get more from each successful read.
Also in elona, not sure if this is still the case for Elin , you could learn a skill that let's you siphon charge's into something else with charge's. i forgot which skill unlocked it though.
Magic device maybe, and it was around level 50 or 100 of that skill to get it, so it's a LONG way's away, and it may not even be the case for Elin.
If you have a favorite book, and it has a lot of charge's, it may also be worth blending it with blessed water, this give's you the highest possible stock's for each read.
Hit r or middle click the holy water, and choose blend, then select the desired item.
It was linked to magic device, but it wasn't as high than 50, more like 10 or so.
Yet, it doesn't seems to be a thing in Elin ( there no such ability described below the skill, unlike when some abilities get unlocked at specific levels.
Right now, there is a character linked to one of the main quests that will copy a specific stock of books each months for you to buy. IDK yet about the grimoire and how it works, as I don't have a magical stone yet to create it.
That ultimately is your choice, but I would argue against using holy water to bless a spellbook. There are way more useful usage for Holy water, unless you're literally drowning in it somehow
And if that's not enough, then just do some dungeon delving in places you can deal with comfortably. Spell tomes are a fairly common drop that will have you swimming in all sorts of spells and is great for training your appraisal, literacy and memorization skills, and it's a decent way to make some coin to boot by pawning off all the other items.
theres a grimiore you can craft later, i put metor and earthquake in it, then every time you sleep, it automatically reads those spells, it will start stockpiling after awhile
you can craft the grimiore at writing station, i made 4 of them, can only have 1 in inventory at a time. use 1 until you stock up on spells then switch it out, literacy , and learning help with the number of spells you get per read too.
