Performance Level?
What does a higher level affect?

I’ve noticed that the higher the level, the more difficult some tasks become, often requiring 1000 points and making it so easy to fail.

1.It seems that different instruments have proficiency levels. Is there a mod to see the current proficiency?

2.With a higher performance level, some instruments are still hard to score over 1000 points in a short time, so what does a higher performance level actually affect? It seems that higher levels just make tasks more difficult, and I don’t feel like the higher performance level is very useful.

3.How can I quickly find nearby instruments? Sometimes I waste a lot of time just wandering around before I find them.

The easiest way to find an instrument is to keep it in your inventory.

if you keep your instrument on you watch out if your doing dungeons fire and ice can destroy them as for the 1k mission you just gotta find a big group of people and hope for the best but even if you lose you get to keep the cash only thing you lose out on is tickets silver coins and maybe -1 karma hit and some rep if you don't like them being that high you can sell rep at the info broker to lower them not sure if this will help but if you push CTRL F it should bring up and searcher for things could try that to find the harps

Panties, Gong, Lute, Guitars, Mic, and etc are all very light weight from .5s up to 3s. Theres very little reason to keep anything else in your inventory at times because the harp, piano, harpsichords found in the Quest Board missions do just fine but don't need to be hauled around. If you find a PAPER HAMMER you could always do that too for a heavier instruments since material doesnt factor into the performance calculations.

Yes every instrument has a hidden proficiency. It doesn't actually matter which one you use they're all about equal. Instruments with " + performance" do not do anything stat wise either because HELD things don't apply buffs.

I've always used the lute, I love the song but I have collected every other instrument. It only takes about 30-60 IRL minutes of constant play before the majority of the song unlocks, but "improvements" continue much further along for a considerable amount thereafter.

A fresh new character is able to get around 600 points in music at sub 20 in the music skill, so early quests arent too hard. Hitting quests with over 1300 points is entirely SKILL and map gen, where the npc end up spawning.

Once you do enough map gen, you will know where things are. TELEPATHY spells or potions can help you locate where NPC are and see them before fog of war is revealed. IF you don't use telepathy, within 3 turns of beginning the music quest you should see a SHINY colored light which indicates rare or unique npc locations.
