However, how much actual time passes depend on your speed.
Let's say for exemple that to take a turn, you need 100 Time Unit (TU).
The world run at a speed of 100, let's take as and exemple your own speed is 300.
It means you'll get 100 TU 3 times before the world reach 100 TU. So your days are basically 3 time longer in terms of turn taken.
Meanwhile, a golem that would run at 50 speed, would have 2 world turn pass before he can act. Which leads to 2 time shorter days compared to base 100 speed.
Now in a fight, you directly compare your speed to that of the ennemy to know how much turn you take before them.
300 speed VS 100 speed ? You act 3 time before they can do anything.
300 speed VS 500 speed ? The ennemy will get a double turn on you about every odd turns.
In Elona(+?) there was a hard limit of 5 turn before all ennemies would get a free turn even if their speed was 10 time lower than you, but IDK if that limit exist in Elin. It might be uncapped. Either way, that's why speed is one, if not the most important stat of a character.
