Colouring stone walls...
You can use dye to colour stone walls, but they aren't coloured when build.
Is that a bug?

Is there any way to get decent looking stone walls, outside of the raw material?
Also not counting the "wall deco" options from house settings to "overlay" the wall. This works only partial.

I wanted to build some houses with stone, but all my options look atrocious.

I'm afraid dyes don't work on floors, walls or platforms. Only furniture. Yeah you can dye the wall/floor components but yeah the colors won't stick I tried the same thing months ago

You will need to build your wall components out of a desired color out of the same colored material.

Which for less natural options means either taking your chances with gacha for materials, hammer alchemy, or just straight up cheating via command console

By any chance, do you know if there are more then just the 3 basic type patterns for stone wall?
Since this plays into the whole "looking bad" part.
Walls and floors can be made with any type of stone and be just fine for building, each type does have a different visual style. Hardness doesnt matter, only the "fireproof" attribute

I am really unsure if your answer wasn't AI-made.

Yes they can be made of any type of stone. Except, as far i saw stone, there is not much variation, or are rather hard to get it on mass. Sure they can be "just fine for building", but that doesn't mean it looks pleasing. Yes each type has a different visual style. But i only know/see the 3 starter ones, and they look like made for exterior walls.
I assume you mention the fireproof attribute because fire damage could possibly destroy walls?
Sorry, it might be be, but i feel like your answer is a customer-service-copypaste answer for a closely related topic.

Does it have to be made out of stone?
If your current wall designs aren't pretty, and the colors you have available from the actual stone materials you have aren't what you want, why not just not build your walls out of stones?

But otherwise, i guess you could try and find stones/cut stones made from different materials.

For example, you could go to the snowy areas that have those ice blocks, the ones you can mine for soil (ice), and use a shovel to dig up the ice flooring they spawn on top of, since those give stone (ice).
They're still stones, and can be turned into cut stones and used to build walls, but the actual material (ice) imparts a blue color to the walls.

Or you could hunt down Wood Golems.
Those drop stone (pine), which is normally a material type only found on logs/sticks/wooden stuff.
You could make stone walls made of pine, like that.

But yeah, this is where being able to dye walls would've been preferable, because finding such materials in large quantities could be tedious.

Theres like a dozen or so stone walls whether that be stone or cutstone I can't tell you without looking at every individual wall option but I took a screenshot and cropped all the wall options.

The "wall" section here includes not just walls but blocks and pillars
We got 4 rows here + another 7 options scrolling down.

Is that really a thing? Does that count for everything? I tried so many times disassembling or destroying stuff and 99% it never gives anything. Just tested destroying a few hundred textils, is that supposed to do anything?
Similar with walls, crafted 60 walls, dropped them, destroyed them. Reload and repeat, never anything.

Edit: It does work quite consistent with a single BBQ Table.

Is that from the texture viewer?

Disassembling with the hammer gives you a chance to learn the recipe of the thing that you are disassembling, if your associated crafting level is high enough (within 6 levels, I believe). If you could learn a recipe from it but your level isn't high enough, it will tell you in the feed at the bottom.

So the assumption of getting different "types of stone wall" is likely not fruitful.

If your Crafting is high you could (though technically you need the Pickaxe for walls, not the Hammer)

I found most of my wall/floor recipes by just digging in dungeons. You seem to have a decent chance of learning new wall/floor recipes while mining walls. But that is a bit of a time/luck investment, too. I'm just hoping I'll have a few good types by the time I max out my settlement size and am ready to begin seriously building my settlement.
