How the hell do I learn how to forge armor?
I can’t figure out how to forge armor. I don’t even know if it’s a good thing to do, or if drops are just better anyways…

i did it once before my first puppy cave exploration
You can't very well, yet. You can currently only make the stone armor you learn at the beginning of the game. While there are ways to transmute metals into stones to build stone armors out of the higher-tier metals, there's really no benefit to it. Hopefully the devs will add that ability soon enough to the anvil recipes. But for now, your Nefia dives are supposed to net you better loot as you increase their danger levels.

Oh ok thanks!

how often is the game being updated? it feels quite incomplete without proper armor/gear crafting
literally every day, if you want you can opt in to the nightly build version which gets updated every day. Do you know how to opt into beta versions of games on steam?

oh it keeps being updated in the beta version? now i know. Thanks. I did read someone else saying its updated frequently but haven't seen any update since installing it a week ago. i'll try to opt-in to beta version.
Also I think you can smith armor and weapons...I haven't got them yet but in tinker town the caravan owner sells the recipe for things like anvils, crucibles, and a forge.

There was a flurry of updates in the live branch for the first couple weeks after releasing into open access, but the live branch updates are much less frequent now.

According to the words of Nao, there will never be 'proper' armor/gear crafting. It is literally not the focus of the game. Diving for new gear is how it is meant to be done, and how it will continue to be done. There was some slight mention of how they may in the future add in some very minor weapons/armour crafting for a very limited amount of more 'special' items, but nothing like what the few folks asking for it want.

stone works well enough to go diving. i'd love to beable to craft "better" sets, but by the time you can, you've probably found a magic item in the puppy cave or something and it's meaningless as it stands.

I'm not sure what you mean by this comment. As far as I knew, hammering an ingot already returned the original ore, not stone. That's not how you get stones of metal material, if that's what you were alluding to. I was getting stones of metal by breaking down junk from the Junk Gacha machine.

Or as another method, at least as far as I know concerning transmutation of ingots to stone, you make a tool (like the pickaxe) out of the metal you want to convert to stone, and then you hammer it, at which point you're returned a single stone of the original metal from which you crafted your tool. Is that what you meant by no longer being able to convert metals to stones? Because if the dev removed that feature, that would be incredibly short-sighted.

then why even have crafting up to stone at that point?

Might not be the same as crafting from scratch, but as of 23.92 Stable, the usage of rune molds adds an additional degree of customization when it comes to improving gear.

Really? Thats rather disapointing. I got my moneys worth already so no biggie, but i thought it was a sandbox. Theres really no point to anything in this game by that logic, i can make wine is that the purpose of this game? its most of what i do lol. Just get rid of all the crafting skills except cooking, farming, and basic crafting then. As furniture is the only thing to craft, although Backpacks are useful. Sorry that shattered my illusion of the game, probably for the best.
