How to deal with splitting monsters?

The bubble wasn't bad, but the mass monster is something I just avoid now. High hp and high chance of damaging your stats, usually fighting one without having a restore body spell available means end of the run. And there's probably worse coming down the pipeline. So anyone have suggestions to quickly deal with them or stop them splitting?

Think of it as a damage check, if you can't deal with it quickly enough then you should probably not even be doing dungeons of those levels and focus on levelling up your stats instead.
That said they can always be avoided, especially if you are solo. They are bigger issue with party, since party members rush it and cause it to split.

I do not think there is a "worse" splitting monster unless I totally forgot something.

Could just be a placebo on my end, but i find they split a lot less if you kill the main monster first, can be hard to keep track of this once they start up and displace each other though...

Also scroll's of exterminate will remove ALL instance's of split monster's in your vison(Not the original/main monster however...), could be worth keeping some on hand, you can buy them with medal's at the collecter, or ecopoint's at the eco merchant, and rarely at certain shop's i guess, not sure which one's though.

And of course the classic area of effect damage, where you can find it atleast.

Burning will halt the duplicate, so keep it in that state before doing damage

The mass monster is the worst of it's kind, you'll not really be seeing anything worst than it. That said, there are really only two ways to counter it. Exterminate scrolls will un multiply the multiplication, and fire will stop them from multiplying in the first place.

Split should be prevented by Burning and Chill.
So either Fire or Ice attacks would be the way to go.

Apparently, damage from Miasma-type magic doesn't trigger them to split, either.
And such a status could spread to any copies made, either way.
I guess Miasma of Blood and fleeing could wipe them out, from the cut damage and resulting Bleed status.

But keeping a scroll of Exterminate on you for emergencies would also help.
Though if you'd be relying on scrolls, a Scroll of Earthquake could be nice, too.
I'd suggest a scroll of Meteor, too, but uh... without Magic Control decently leveled up you'd probably wipe yourself and your own party out alongside the enemy, haha.

Or, you could carry a stock of Flam on you to throw at them, and just blow them up.
It's got a small AoE, and they're easy to craft.
