Rescue Puppy mission... Puppy died in cave. Now what?

I read in some discussion that it's now considered a party member, and you can revive party members by going to a Pub and talking to a bartender. But the Puppy doesn't come up as an option to revive.

The quest still says I have saved the puppy, and that I need to now return it to the quest giver, but it's not there so... now what? Will it respawn if the cave refreshes or something?

Yes, cave respawn after a while. Cant really say how long it takes.

If it's Poppy, shouldn't Fiama be able to revive it?
Either way, just talk to Fiama, and she'll count the quest as completed.

if poppy joined your party and then died and can't be revived at a bar, then odds are he's already revived at your meadows base chilling with fia waiting on you

This does not happen. She just has regular dialogue. There's no option to complete the quest.

Sounds like I'll just take another look in the cave. I think I got lucky, it was on the 2nd floor right next to the entrance.

Happened to me too, the doggo died almost immediately after I found it. I went back to my town and Poppy wound up there anyway. Take a look around and you might find him (her? idk) hiding in the fog of war.

oh nvm, I talked to her and she let me turn in the quest.

If Poppy dies before you return and talk to Fiama, then she'll respawn in Meadow after some period of time, just like other NPCs. If a party member that died has already respawned, then you can't use the Bartender. They won't be in your party any more if they respawn in your base, and Poppy needs to be in your party to turn in the quest, so invite her to your party at your base.

so if she died and respawns later, you DO have to wait for her to respawn before you can finish the quest. Therefor, if you get back real fast after she died she might not be available yet. Just fish for awhile or gather flowers and recheck in like a week.
