Can't place a boat and im on a beach base why ??

Maybe you need a lot of space.
It's a weird multiple-square-size item, placing those is a little awkward.
If you have party members, they could maybe be getting in the way, too.

They take a lot of space, and require pretty specific conditions to be 'right'.... Good luck...

oh well i dunno why using build mode cant place it but manually placing it can

big items multi-tile are difficult to place down my advice is just set them down anywhere first then go into build mode and relocate them to where you want.

Has anyone found a solid solution to this yet? I'm having the same issue. I have a 4x5 lake. (using the initial lake that i built upon) each tile is 4 water full and it still wont take, it just turns into the box to be picked up again.

Trying that... I did't even know the Build Board was a thing at first. All it does is "Throw" the boat and it lands as a box.

not sure how much space its needed since mine is on the beach but try 7x7 just to be sure

It needs exactly 5x3.
I had this problem last night, my pond is exactly 5x3 + some random 1 or 2 tiles offset to make it look natural. The boat's furniture anchor is bottom most, you might need to rotate them depending on your water shape.

So 5x6 is too much??? I've tried putting it in the center and rotating it while holding it and every other thing imaginable. I can't even get the yellow (white?) shadow to show up as if i'm trying to place something. Best I can do is "Throw" it or Drop it. Either I'm doing something wrong or there is something wrong with the starting water. Mind you, I've filled the starting water to 4 per tile (which seems to be the maximum)

I'm not on my PC right now, but i have the floor plans of my base saved in cloud.

I stood in the red circle and tried to place the boat on the adjacent water tiles, if I remember correctly its successfully placed on the red X. If it says 'throw' you might need to wiggle the mouse for a bit to refresh the frame and change to 'place'.

edit : you can see my pond is only 5x3 and 2 tiles offset. You can also see the depth, the light blue one is 2 units deep and the deep blue one is 4 uniits deep

Nope... tried exactly as you say... still won't work. I have a 3x5 lake all of which are 4 deep... standing in different positions... trying to place in different positions. nothing works.
