How do I complete the Harvesting quests on time?
I am stumped. Every time I try to complete the quest for helping to harvest crops I run out of time. Even going for the crops described as "huge" "larger than an elephant" or whatever I still don't manage to ship enough. Even if I stay close to the shipping box and harvest from the same field the quest ends before I ship enough.

Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

Are you using your harvesting axe? Drastically decreases time to gather.

You can also try throwing your stock towards the shipping box, throwing apparently doesn't take time.

Having higher speed makes it easier. If your speed is lower due to being hungry or sleepy, it'll make it more difficult. Conversely, having boons to increase your speed will of course make it a heck of a lot easier because you can move a tile or three without it taking a "turn". High weight capacity of course also makes it easier as you can carry more at once before being slowed by being burdened.

You can try using any companions you have on you to try and carry some of the food stock as well.

Short teleport at the beginning can maybe help save you a few rounds to start (if you can't see any fields in your immediate vicinity to investigate).

Some of these quests go as low as a 30.0s requirement, even I don't go for any that require as many as 140.0s of stock to ship.

only focus on huge crops. Have better harvest skill to harvest faster. Have good speed value. Use an axe, ideally a good one to fasten the harvest. Avoid getting too heavy if you don't have high base speed value.

Bonus : Scan your surouding with map spell/scroll to spot big crops immediately.
Bonus 2 : only move long distance with teleport spell
Bonus 3 : use a speed spell right before starting to harvest a big crop

In case you missed it, there's a notification in the top left that appears saying "*Ending soon*" when time's almost up. Once that shows up you're going to need to pull back to deposit. You're not going to get another big harvest completed in time, though small ones are still possible.
Cast magic map. This spell will save your ass in both the harvest quests AND the music quests, as it will show you will the best crops are and the best instruments/biggest crowds.

Always use the axe to gather. Getting a higher hardness material axe helps. Try to only gather Heavier than an Elephant and Legendary crops. Small crops gather faster, but it's a trap. Don't gather grapes, you always get one, other crops can give multiple from one gather. Use a companion to carry crops to make less trips back to the box. Only take quests that have a manageable goal. If they want over 100 S crops and you are just starting, skip it until you are sure you can get that much.

Thanks, it seems like I need to strategize better.

sometime i saw harvest quest that require 180.0s or even 220.0s, which i think is absurd at early game. but there is a way to do this if you have lower requirement harvest quest available.
you can do the easier one first, complete the required amount and continue to harvest until you get ~100.0s (it depends) before the quest end. of course you still need to harvest heavy crops

make sure to separate the crop stacks, since excess crops will be confiscated at the end of the quest,
i usually place my heaviest stack in my extra bags with a smaller stack in lower slot in the same bag and one small stack in the main bag
they almost always confiscate the stack in the main bag
you can use the extra crops for another quest,

you will get -1 karma for the confiscated crops but it cancel out with +1 karma from completed quest

Actually, I'd recommend the opposite. Take every single harvest quest you can, because you can still keep some of the heavy crops to turn in on other quests (or offer them to your god, if appropriate), as weight is a factor of earning favor) and doing so still skills you up even if you fail. It also means that those quests will get rerolled much faster.

harvest quest is free money and platinum. at 5k fame I can take a 180s one, finish it with 300-400s of harvest, and get paid 1500+ oren & 2000+ from harvesting more than expected

But I guess you can get way more with High music skill in parties, especially if your class is musician (better tips feat)
