Then you can use it to "pick up" water from somewhere else and move it elsewhere.
And yes, the water floor both functions as water and takes on the color of the dye used, so you can use Rubynus dye to make a river of blood, AND still use it to water your crops.
Like a 3x3 square of water?
It should look slightly deeper in the center when it's connected to more water tiles in a bigger shape.
Also, maybe the type of water has an affect on the appearance, like Freshwater vs Seawater vs Hot Spring Water, etc. etc.
And, the appearance can change depending on the floor tiles bordering the water.
Like grass or sand will have a shore-like appearance, but stone tile floor will make the bordering look... square?
bottomless pot does water in 4 stages depending on how long you keep pouring water out (or collect and drain tile)
very shallow -> shallow -> deep -> very deep
Place floor tiles around the water, something artificial like planks or stone. That changes the "shore" into something more defined with that more visible depth to it. I don't remember offhand if you can place floor on the bottom of the water as well.
I had tried with freshwater, just water and sea water.
You might be right, so far I've only put it on the ground, bordering grass tiles or dirt tiles and not other types of flooring. The hotspring at olvina is bordered by log floor while the bottom part of the hotspring is hidden by the road that is slightly raised (I noticed because I stole the water in it). The pond in Palmia was also surrounded by some kind of stone flooring.
Edit : what the heck my comment is preceeded by two other comments !
Noted, will test laying down artificial floorings later.
The game has pretty unique way for placing walls so I'm guessing they may have the other mechanics for floors/water tiles.
