How exactly does the Delegated Farming policy work?
Like do I need to have a steady supply of seeds for the NPCs to keep replanting them, or do they just like make them outta thin air? If they make em outta thin air, will they be the +3 or whatever seeds I have planted or not? Like I'm not finding any decent information anywhere on how this particular policy works other than they harvest and replant for you but nothing particularly specific.

The crops planted will automatically be harvested and replanted. You don't even need residences to do it. It just happens automatically, so long as the crops are within a farming sign anyway.

Delegated farming halves whatever yield you would get out of the crops, but always replants them after the post harvest stage.

It will replant and upgrade them slowly based on your farming skill. It also gradually homogenizes a field, so if you plant a bunch of +0 seed with no stats, then eventually they will be like +10 or whatever and all have the same stats. At least if they are all in the same field.

Note that it seems to also ignore the growing time of the plants, at least for mushrooms. Mushrooms grow WAAAY faster than other plants but have low yields, so they do terribly with delegated farming.

Sometimes I wonder if it's really worth using mushrooms for delegated farming.

Mushrooms have 3 growth stages, they are harvestable at the first, but delegated farming waits for the 3rd, I don't know if there is any benefit for waiting. I think this is still substantially faster than other crops. I wouldn't consider anything other than blueberries to be remotely comparable, in terms of nutrition per fertility over time.

Oh, I never noticed mushrooms had another growth stage.
I guess it's sorta like Pasture/Silver Grass, where it can be harvested normally before it's taken on its... fluffy(?) appearance, which I guess is when it's in its final growth stage.

Dahahah, I thought whoever was delegated the farming to was waiting for the player if they want to harvest it themselves.

Frankly it helps in my opinion, I can do the selective breeding myself and when you're someone who love to rearrange your base, this is a great feature so that you can still get the seeds to replant in the new location.
